Underwear

“Humility is like underwear, essential, but indecent if it shows”

A Great Weekend With Friends

What a lovely weekend spent eating and drinking (my two favorite hobbies) with good friends.

On Friday night, Kailyn arrived from the West Coast and checked into the DustBunny-Astoria Hotel. We went to a local hole-in-the-wall neighborhood restaurant for some authentic Mexican grub – and our bill came to a whopping $41 bucks for the both of us. I will definitely be back.

On Saturday we picked up my old friend (and I do mean OLD) Maddie at Penn Station and headed over to The Spanish Institute on fancy Park Avenue. The Institute was putting on an exhibition of the designs of the great couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga, featuring some of Balenciaga’s most fabulous creations – including one of Maddie's favorites:

After our moment of cultcha, we cabbed it over to Harlem in order to dine at Dinosaur BBQ. Since it was late afternoon (after lunch and before dinner), and because the restaurant is kind of out-of-the-way (125th St. & 12th Ave.) – I figured it wouldn’t be too crowded.

I couldn’t have been more wrong. It was packed, and we had to wait a little while at the bar before being seated. Also spotted waiting for a table: New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn!

The food was delish – but unfortunately my pictures didn’t turn out too well so I snagged this one (and the pic above) off the internet. This is the “Tres Hombres” – BBQ brisket, ribs and pork – and it was phenomenal:

We went back to Astoria and rested a bit before hitting the booze. The plan was to drink it up at my apartment (on-the-cheap) before heading out to The Urges. We laughed, we cried, we danced – and at about 2:30 am we realized we weren’t going anywhere so I made a drunken pizza run before we passed out.

Yesterday we had Hangover Brunch at my restaurant and Maddie headed back to PA. Kailyn transferred from Casa de DustBunny to a hotel in Manhattan, so she can be closer to all the restaurants she plans on visiting over the next 2 days. Yesterday she went to Harold Dieterle’s place, Perilla (read about it HERE).

All-in-all, the weekend was absolutely great – even though it didn’t involve any gogoboys. Maybe next time. What did YOU do this weekend??

Worst Name For A Discount Site ??

Oy. When I saw an ad for Jewpon I thought it was a bad Jackie Mason joke or something. But Jewpon.com is REAL - it's like a kosher Groupon - featuring up to 75 percent off "Kosher Restaurants, Events and Activities, Stores, Hotels, Judaica, Photography, Fashion, Israel, and a whole lot more".

Alrighty then...

See, I told ya ... that just ain't right...

No Offense But ...

This is so true. Same with "Don't take this the wrong way but ..." or "I don't mean to be rude but ..."

Also, I thought "Offence" was incorrect, but apparently that's the spelling used in Britain. Which is just stupid. No offense, of course...

:)

Thanks to DustBunny Mike!

Featured Athlete/Champion - Novak Djokovic

Congratulations to tennis cutie Novak Djokovic (currently ranked #3 in the world) for winning his second Australian Open over the weekend.

Djokovic, 23, is from Serbia and won the Olympic bronze medal for his country in 2008. In addition to winning the Australian Open twice, he is the youngest player from the open era to have reached the semi-finals in all four Grand Slam events. Most importantly (in my opinion), Djokovic makes the world a better place by never hesitating to go shirtless.

Advice for Mubarak

8-year-old Saudi girl Juju (below) is full of the WIN. First, she's cute as a button. Second, she is smarter and more articulate than some people three times her age. Third, her name is "Juju" (duh). And, last, she gives out free advice to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak - love the "BTW" at the end:

Thanks For The Donation!

Dearest DustBunny BT -

Thank you so much for the donation - I truly appreciate it, and so does my "business associate", Rodrigo (above). Now if I could just get him to iron that wrinkly t-shirt. After all - we have STANDARDS here at DustBunny World Headquarters...

One of Those Mornings/Afternoons

Oy - did anyone get a look at the bus boat that knocked me on my ass last night?!? As you might remember, Kailyn and Maddie are here this weekend, and we ended up having a few dozen million cocktails last night (Quelle surprise!). We got so DRONK that we never ended up leaving my apartment and going to The Urges!!

You KNOW it was messy if we were too drunk to manhandle gogoboys support the arts.

Now it's time for Hangover Brunch ...
