If right-wing idiots can boycott my beloved McDonald's, then WE can boycott some right-wing juice. William Bolthouse, who owns 43% of Bolthouse Farms, recently donated $100,000 toward the initiative to constitutionally ban gay marriage in California. According to Bilerico, the Bolthouses have a history of supporting anti-gay causes. Read the story here.
I'm not a big juice buyer, but if YOU are, I ask you to bypass Bolthouse Farms and buy something else.

Dammit. I just got home from the grocery store with a freakin' 2 lb. bag of BOLTHOUSE FARMS baby-cut carrots. I'm taking them back and exchanging them for Dole carrots. I hope Dole isn't doing this because it's the only other brand the store has right now.
ReplyDeleteIt just kills me that these people use religion to discriminate against others. In case they didn't get the memo JESUS LOVES EVERYONE!!!!!!
Renee - Good for you! Thanks for your support.
ReplyDeleteGo David, and go Renee! I never have supported them - haven't even noticed the products in the store - but will certainly continue to ignore them.
ReplyDeleteI've bought that juice before but never again! I used to have a link to companies and their contributions. It had "blue" in the title of it, so we'd know where to shop. I don't have that link now since my other computer died. Do any of you know about it?
ReplyDeleteI would join the boycott, but I don't buy their products anyway... I am all hippie dippie locally grown or Trader Joe's zombie shopper... that said, I loath the hate mongering of the Christian right (well, anyone) and will happily use my dollars to demonstrate my loathing of intolerance.... I grew up on boycotts- I didn't even know what grapes or iceberg lettuce tasted like due to the UFW boycotts when I was a kid.....
ReplyDeleteCrap! There goes my Vanilla Chai. I sent an email to them stating I would not buy from a company that chooses to spend their profits promoting hate and discrimination. I doubt I will get a response though, their mission statement says that they are all about glorifying God, and sounds like it may have been written by JimBob Duggar.
ReplyDeleteAmen Renee!!! I hate how people use religion to support their ignorance and hatred...I refuse to fall under that spell...if that means I'm going to hell for LOVING ALL people, then so be it.
ReplyDeleteand while I'm not a big juice drinker(I prefer to EAT my calories!) I will be boycotting these assholes!!!
Tranny, I love you!
xoxoxox
I get sick when I think of how much good all that money could do, feeding and clothing needy people, sending malaria meds to Africa, funding organizations like the Red Cross. There are so many worthy ways to spend that tithe. Thanks for the heads up. I've noticed the juices at my local warehouse store and was temted a few times, but I'll be avoiding them from now on. Yuck.
ReplyDeleteTHANK-YOU DAVID! I have been buying this for two years now.As good as the juice is,needless to say now, I WON'T!!I won't support a hate mongering company!
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't buy this stuff but I do know people who do...and I will have to let them know IMMEDIATELY! Considering that most of them are gay, I'd really prefer not to have them supporting a company that is against them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up! I hope these hate mongers feel it in their check books.
ReplyDeleteOh, and BTW your Design Star recap is the best by far!
:)
lol I thought that said Bathhouse Farms! Sometimes I can be a total blond. I too have never heard of them. But then again, Arby's doesnt tell me where they buy there produce.
ReplyDeleteSorry to take up so much space, but below is the response I got from Bolthouse Farms. Similar to what is posted on the bilerico post, and as they pointed out, the foundation wouldn't have the money to donate to hateful groups if not for the profits of the company.
ReplyDeleteI have thoughtfully included, if I do say so myself, the email address and phone number to the rep if any Dust Bunnies want to call.

We appreciate your concern and apologize for the confusion. Um, we're not confused. We know where the money's coming from. So not only do they promote hate they think we're all stupid too.
ReplyDeleteLOL Bathhouse Farms! I wonder if that domain name is available. It would be fun to register it and redirect the web site hits to www.bolthouse.com...........

ReplyDelete@ maria:
ReplyDeletejust read her response email and this was the first thing i thought: dick cheney is 'not connected' to halliburton, either, or so the white house always says, but... does he or does he not always further the halliburton cause? exactly.
