I took this picture of Oscar and Emmy this morning before I left for work. Don't they look like Zombies?...
Emmy is doing better, although she doesn't eat much - so I'm still squirting nasty "food" down her throat with a syringe. As you might guess, she just LOVES it - along with the pill I give her in the morning, and the liquid antibiotic I give her twice a day. Beside the lack of appetite, Emmy pretty much seems back to normal (knock wood!).
YAY!!!! Keep it up Emmy!!! and Oscar IS a little chunk-monster. aint he?? ;)
ReplyDeletePretty babies you have there.
ReplyDeleteEmmy - you gotta eat girly! Don't let Oscar hog all the chow!
Yes, Oscar has been "eating for two" for quite a while!
ReplyDeleteHe used to be such an active cat. His favorite thing was to jump from the floor to the top of an open door, and then lay on top of the door (with perfect balance). It was pretty amazing. But not anymore!!
There are appetite stimulant goos and supplements that you could get from your vet. They are in tubed "goo" form, and some cats will eat them willingly, and some won't. If you try them on Emmy, and she doesn't willingly eat them, putting a dollop on her nose or paws will piss her off, but she will lick it off, and can get some calories that way.
ReplyDeleteYour Oscar looks like my Manny.
ReplyDeleteEmmy knows how to get the men to wait on her.
Hopefully the appetite loss is a side effect of the meds. Glad she's doing better!
ReplyDeleteMark :-)
Awww they're sweet. I'm happy Emmy's doing better.
ReplyDeleteDavid,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say that I hope Emmy gets better. My cat is on thyroid medicine - twice a day - for life. I was having a lot of trouble getting her to take pills.
So my vet suggested liquid medicine instead. The good thing about the liquid is that the vet can have it mixed with a flavor, such as chicken. Although I am sure my cat doesn't exactly love the taste, she doesn't seem to be as upset about it after as she was with the pills. I believe that they can take any pills, liquify them, and flavor them. I give her the liquid in a dropper. And to make it easier, I hold her like a baby (on her back cradled in my arms), and then gently squeeze the medicine into her mouth so she has to swallow it. It takes a little practice to get the balancing routine down pat, but it is worth it. The cat isn't as stressed, and you will have an easier time too.
Better for you and better for Emmy.
I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all, but I just know how stressful it s dealing with cat meds.
Hope this helps if you haven't already tried it. Best regards to you and Emmy.
