If Gustav ruins my first vacation in 2 years (and my chance to see Dan), I am going to be one sad bunny. The mayor of New Orleans has left the Democratic National Convention "to begin planning for a possible evacuation". Fuck.
Well considering how he screwed up the last evacuation it was wise of him to leave...even if it doesn't make landfall near New Orleans. He would have a public relations nightmare on his hands if he stayed in Denver.
So don't let that damper your vacation plans. Our officials here in Houston and the officials in Galveston are on alert mode right now. They're just keeping an eye on things.
Don't worry your pretty little head, baby! It's waaaaay too soon to let it ruin your vacation. These things are very unpredictable until they get into the Gulf. I grew up in South Louisiana so I know you get 1,000 false alarms for every reals Hurricane. NO is smart to begin preparations, but it is way to early to clear out the city! I'm gonna be looking for you on the streets of NOLA!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGirl - you need to relax! Everything is going to be just fine. Scouts honer!

ReplyDeleteOh no! We must all summon the special powers of Judy Garland to divert this storm!!!
ReplyDeleteMark :-)
Oh no! I hope everything works out and you get to go! Keeping positive thoughts for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the same boat you are.
ReplyDeleteAs a former Katrina 'fugee I don't scare off too easy, so I'm going to keep on packing while they're making preliminary evacuation plans down there.
We'll wait and see what happens...

ReplyDeleteTake a rain pancho to wear over your harness and chaps. You'll be fine. Dan will look after you.
ReplyDeleteI will pray for you that it all works out for you! Dont fret to much I think it will all be ok!
ReplyDeleteI'd just try to leave on Monday instead of Tuesday! They're expecting a Tuesday landfall.
ReplyDeleteDon't panic. Anything can happen. We were all ready to be slammed by Fay and it completely missed us. Not even a drop of rain!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for you....

I hope you get to go to N'Awlins too, but here's a thought: Don't plan a trip to the gulf coast during hurricane season?
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
Dearest Anonymous -
ReplyDeleteI didn't choose the weekend out of a hat. Labor Day weekend is "Southern Decadence" weekend in NOLA - gay decadence in all its finest.
