The anti-gay crusaders are currently ahead in California. From Joe.My.God:
The poll conducted for CBS 5 by SurveyUSA indicates that support for the measure to ban gay marriage has grown among voters in the state over an eleven day period — most especially among young voters. According to the poll, likely California voters overall now favor passage of Proposition 8 by a five-point margin, 47 percent to 42 percent. Ironically, a CBS 5 poll eleven days prior found a five-point margin in favor of the measure's opponents.
It doesn't help matters that these bigots have outraised us - $25.4 million to $15.8 million. If you live in California, or know anyone who does - please help spread the word - VOTE NO ON PROP 8.
Go to NoOnProp8.com to donate and/or volunteer.
I do hope that this is voted down. With the world right now a little happiness goes a long way. I don't know anyone all the way in CA but I hope that the support comes in time!
ReplyDeleteThe scarey part is the money being dumped into California is from out of state bigots! Seems to me that all of these Christians out there trying to save the world should stay focused on whats happening in their own state and let CA decide its fate on their own.
ReplyDeleteDog dammit this makes my blood boil. Just leave us the hell alone you fucking Xtian freaks. We are not a threat to your precious sacred marriages.
ReplyDeleteI'm reminded of the excellent pro-choice slogan: Against gay marriage? Don't have one.
[Oh and btw, we promise not to out all you married "straight" guys who want to have sex with us . . . maybe.]
You know why this is? The opposition has produced these RIDICULOUS ads that make it seem like gay marriage affects everyone and opens people up to be sued. PLEASE! I am ashamed to be Californian if this actually passes. This fucking pisses me off. I'm praying hard that it doesn't come to that! I actually got into a shouting match with some woman at the grocery store when she started in on my t-shirt. Good times.
ReplyDeleteI'll take what Dan says even further and say that if "Christian" bigots are that concerned with marriage, perhaps they should just tend to their own. It seems like the people most vocal about the "sanctity" of marriage are the jerks who are cheating or beating, if you know what I mean.
Ugh! I hate this. HATE IT!
For those of us in red states (Texas), a place like CA is hope. What the hell are these people so scared of? Get the hell out of our bedrooms and keep your husbands out of public bathrooms!!!
ReplyDeleteAmong younger voters. That is scary and worrisome. It doesn't reflect the young voters I know. This needs to end up in the Supreme Court and this is probably the one of the more important reasons to vote for Obama.
ReplyDeleteIt all boils down to the women married to "straight" guys are scared that if gay people get too many rights they will loose their husbands.
ReplyDeleteThe people I know in CA are voting the way they should. That's why we're friends.
ReplyDeleteGood comments! Marker - well done!
I can't comprehend these people and will never understand why this bothers them at all. I really don't.
Ah, They came to my door. I've written about it here.
