Monday Weigh-In

All in all, it was a pretty good week for me – I achieved my goal and lost two pounds!

I walked home (2 ½ miles) after work 4 days this week – but that was the extent of my exercise. This weekend I was not nearly as energetic or motivated as I was last weekend: no exercise and not much accomplished on my “To Do” list. However, I DID fight with a closeted lesbian “Christian” Teabagger over at Joy’s BLOG regarding healthcare. Miss Thang even recruited a couple more Trolls to comment about my “anger management issues”. Yeah, I get angry … at "Christians" who think helping people is a bad thing…

I also received some bad news: because of financial restraints I couldn’t really afford a vacation this year. However, I WAS looking forward to Gay Camping with the Bears again at the end of the summer. Unfortunately I found out last night that our host at Camp won’t be available that weekend, so it looks like no vacation for me. I was REALLY looking forward to getting out of the city, but oh well … :(

Anywhore, I AM happy that I had a decent week health-wise.

  2. i agree with the behr-- dd is a hunky hottie!!!

congrats on the walking- that's AWESOME.

what about planning a 'staycation' and finding cool stuff to do/see around the city? do you have access to a car? boston has tons of cool stuff that would be perfect for a day trip! i've been to concord too and walked the paths that thoreau walked.

and if it matters i so thought that that one troll was a little suspect of being family myself. once she has to pay out the keister she will be humming a WAY dif tune. it's also too bad she didnt have anything original to contribute to the discussion, no personal experience. pretty sad when the scope of someone's political knowledge comes from paraphrasing things from faux news and then passing it off as your own thoughts.

    you rock DD!

  3. Congrats on the weight loss success! Walking home from work is a real help.

You are welcome to "get out of the city" and come here for a vacation. We have the beach, some historical stuff, and lots of gays. Its like mini-Manhattan! Seriously, call me if you want to discuss.

  4. Hey, that sounds like lots of fun to visit Mark and Joe! I'd do it for sure!

Congratulations on the weight loss and walking! Way to go!

That was quite a comment war on my blog, wasn't it? Maybe she'll stay away now. I deleted her from my FB list, so that helps, too.

Honey, that's awesome! That ain't chopped liver, and neither are you!

Alaina has a good idea--a staycation, or something close by, something inexpensive but that will get you out of town. Time to get those creative juices flowing and see what you can come up with!

As for the health care debate over at Joy's, I'd love to have that Debi chick stop by Nutwood. I think I might have some fun with that. Seriously, everyone has the right to their opinion, but I find it incomprehensible that anyone could be so uncaring and so unsympathetic to the plight of others. It disgusts me. I'm an agnostic, and I have more compassion than many so-called Christians. Ugh! XOXO Beth

  9. Congrats on meeting your goal! I'm glad things seem to be working for you still!

I just checked Joy's blog! Oh my. I think Beth brought up Medicare and that is one thing I like to ask people, especially those on it who are against health care reform. Do they feel they are getting adequate care? Do they feel that they are being taken care of? If so, do they realize it is government run? Wouldn't you want everyone else to be taken care of like you are?

My mom has a $5,000 deductible right now. So when my brother was sick last year and had to have tests done we had to shell out 5 grand before our insurance would even put in a penny! Not good, but that's what we can afford and because of it we hardly ever go to the doctors.

We also have a cousin in NC, a working single mom with both daughters in college, who was just diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. She has basically been given a few months to live. It would have been caught earlier but she can't afford health care and wasn't able to get a yearly check-up. She only went in when her brother and EMT noticed she was having trouble walking up hills and breathing then took her blood pressure and told her to get to a doctor asap.

While my grandmother who is on Medicare has everything done for her no questions asked. The home she lives at loves her because they know they will get paid and get paid well for the care she is given. She has had everything and the kitchen sink replaced in her body. Heck, can I age 50 years now and be on Medicare?

Anyways without starting a debate again, here is a site that I think embodies everything I think and want to say on national topics and life. These girls are genius!

  11. YAY David! Okay the whole "christian"thing, not so much, but the healthy choices are awesome.

Now I need to go read Joy's blog and see how you slapped the ass hat down.
