I wasn't feeling too great today (my stomach has a bad case of the gurgles) - so I left work early. I promptly came home, plopped down on the couch, and turned on the television for an afternoon of vegging.
Daytime TV is a rare treat for me - since I am usually at work - so I spent the afternoon watching stuff I don't normally get to see. And I was really surprised to see The Electric Company - a show from my childhood - still airs on PBS. But I was bummed that the show is completely up-to-date and has long-since dropped the intro I remember from the 70's ...

Groovy, man. Groovy...
OMG - I remember the premiere - my mom told my sister and me that there was a new show on, right after Mister Rogers and Sesame Street, and this was it.
ReplyDeleteit is soooo not the same
ReplyDeleteI was sick last week & watched a bunch of TV. I hope your tummy is doing better.
ReplyDeleteSorry you're feeling under the weather. I used to love that show. Oh, and Zoom.
ReplyDeleteMy son watched it and has DVD's of those for his son to watch. I liked Fargo North, Decoder, and of course Easy Reader (Morgan Freeman!). It was fun for parents, too.
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten how trippy that was. LOL Kailyn, I watched "Zoom," too! You can find clips on YouTube, and it's hilarious to watch now. Feel better soon, David! XOXO
ReplyDeleteactually, this new version of the Electric Company just came on not that long ago...I wish I got to see the original, but I'm 25..so I missed out

ReplyDeleteI LOVED the Electic Company- what young gay boy didn't? I mean, for Gawd's sake, it had RITA MORENO on it!!! Remember the oldest version, where, before the light buld and before the music started, she would yell in this kinda froggy voice: "HEY YOU GUY-EYES!!!!!!"
ReplyDeleteLoved it, and love you for bringing this happy childhood memory!!!
I saw it recently- i didn't knw what it was, but I enjoyed it and kept watching to find out what it was!
ReplyDeleteI approve.
I got pretty excited when PBS brought back the Electric Company. I loved that show, back in the day (shit we're old!) but the new one hasn't captured me. It's sort of annoying.
ReplyDeleteI loved the Electric Company! And like Ginger, remember the Rita Moreno version most vividly. I much preferred it to Sesame Street.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better!
