State Of The Union - What Did You Think?

I thought it was a great speech.  President Obama said, "OK, Biatches - governing is hard, but let's GOVERN!".  And the "Party of No" sat on their hands and smirked.  Gross.  They wouldn't even cheer for the payback of bank bailout funds to the American people. The Party of No = The Party of Entitled Rich White Guys.

During the speech, did you see Supreme Court Justice Alito shake his head and mouth the words "Not true" when the President called them out for their recent election finance decision?  "Activist judges" indeed...

Justice Sotomayor should have smacked him.

What did YOU think?  Did you even watch?

  1. I thought that speech was great. President Obama can give one hell of a speech that's for sure, and his speech writer needs big time kudos!

That said, I though the speech was exactly what we needed to hear. In many ways, he rose to the occasion and became the President that many people had been asking him to be. While, many people always saw him as such, there were others that needed him to step it up.

He was firm, but encouraging, and I appreciated him taking time to point out the faults of both parties. He continued to reach across party lines to get the jobs done, but again was met with typical GOP attitude.

I really love his sense of humor though, I love his sarcasm!

  2. i didn't see alito, aka asshat of the century, but i did see anthony weiner (*giggle*) mouth "MORE government programs?!?"

by far my favorite "come to jesus" moment was in the beginning when the president said to joe wilson "yeah, i THOUGHT i'd get applause on that" and the camera cut to him blushing hard & looking shame-faced. it gave me so much life.

normally, i'd have all kinds of political commentary and specifics, but in this case, i just have one word to describe how i felt about #SoTU2010: co-sign!

  3. Yes, watched and was glad he took a tougher stance than in the past. Went after both Dems & Rebs for not passing legislation. A super majority has not worked and it is time to get past the gridlock. Jobs was disappointing to me...how many damn "green jobs" are we going to hear about. All in all, one of his best speeches..now start acting like Bush and push!!! Sorry, I am annoyed and frustrated we have lost a year while he kind of faded into the background. Keep it up Mr. Prez. Oh yes, SCOTUS was called out...terrible and shocking ruling, but think this will be dealt with.

  4. I watched and was dismayed at the GOP and their silence. Now that the supermajority has been lost, I think they are going to cause all sort of problems.

Alito and the justices aren't used to having to deal with flak from their jacked up decisions... I hope the Pres was telling the truth and will get legislation done to prevent corporations from influencing elections.

That is why we have three branches of gov't... a system of checks and balances...

  5. I think it will be really interesting to watch the maneuvers and subsequent actions surrounding the campaign finance reform question.

  6. He is a great looking man & the best speaker since JFK. I thought his tone was firm & fair... the reactionof the Republicans says volumes.
    I give him a B+.

  7. It was a great speech. I was really glad he called Congress out on the partisian games that are going on right now. I was even happier to hear him call out the Supreme Court. And yeah, the smirking and inappropriate laughter were completely juvenile. Perhaps they would have been more receptive if he had thrown in a few, "you betchas."

  8. I did watch. Fortunately I recorded since I knew how sleepy I was and saw it today. The Reps are embarrassing. Unfortunately the people who vote for many of them go along with all that. They are setting a horrible example and behaving horribly. I'm glad he called out the Supremes for their ruling and wonder what Bader-Ginsberg and Sotomayor were thinking.

I'm ready for a smack-down! I still like Obama and am glad he's in office.

  10. I watched and listened, but honestly I am ready for action. Either Obama needs to find a way to bridge partisan lines, OR just start doing things without Republican support. I'm tired of the talk and ready for some action.
