Current Mood: Melancholy

I have been in a constant funk lately - it feels like I'm treading water but no matter what I do my head keeps dipping deeper and deeper below the water line.  And unfortunately the hunky Lifeguard has gone home for the day.

So, as I've done since High School, I turn to Culture Club for a little comfort...

And YES - I've been taking my crazy pills.

  1. not to lessen what you are going through because I have had the same funkiness lately (been about 3 weeks) and I do wonder if it is the weather, or my weight, or the weather, or my weight....You will get through it. Thinking of you.

  2. Sorry to hear this, but I do understand. Sometimes, we just need to take a little time out.

If it helps, I think you and your blog are fantastic! :)

  3. Take it easy, take it slow - I know you'll get through.

And is it just me or was Mikey Craig looking rather handsome in that pic (from the later days, it appears, after the jheri curl).

  4. I got tears in my eyes watching the Culture Club. Took me back to my disaffected youth.

One of my favourite songs is 'Boy,Boy(I'm The Boy). I still listen to it when I am doing road work!

Since I have been reading your blog, you seem to always keep things on the lighter side of things. I feel that is where you really are 'from' and no matter where you go, you true spirit never goes to far from where it started.

Let's believe that this is due to being cooped up during an unseaonably snowy winter. March is on the way and the snow will be melting. Time to get out and buy some new clothes (finally!) and get out into the streets!

It will pass... because what else can it do?

  5. David,

Hang in there as I can totally relate. I am usually 120% happy and optimistic but last few days I have not wanted to get out of bed and face the world.

I am so melancholy today that I decided to not even blog as I was afraid my mood would come across in each post, lol.

    To better days!

    Dave

  6. It's that damned groundhog and his six more weeks of winter bulls**t!
    Little f****r!
I say we cement over his hiding place and stop relying on a rodent to tell us about the weather.
Spring is coming and all will be right in Dust Bunny Haven.

i'm sick of winter and sick of hearing how f'ed up kids are in my city, a fact i can't change no matter how much i try, because my efforts are like a fly in a pile of shit, no one notices and no one cares. if it wasnt for being able to vent here on the blog and get some affirmations from all y'all, i would of quit a long time ago. thank you for all the support and kind words, i hope you know how much i appreciate you and your work here. i look forward to your recaps and when you do 'caption this',

we just got to hang in there and take it as it comes kiddo.

  10. Alaina -

You are too sweet about sending that package - and about everything in general. AND you're an awesome teacher. I just wish you could find a job in some cushy rich school district where you wouldn't have so much DRAMA.

Just for you, I have scheduled a "Caption This" post for tomorrow.

    XOXOXOXOXO

  11. A lot of it is probably the weather along with the usual things that get you down. I wish I could wave a magic wand over you and Tina, and you'd both have money, less stress, and peace!

    Hugs and more hugs!! xoxoxoxoxox

  12. *HUG* I'm like Tivo Mom. When I start feeling like that, I can always point to my weight or the weather. Hoping you have a little sunshine and exercise soon!

you will make it through. Ho it's the fuckin winter that's making us you crazy.
This is why I only run south during the cold.

  14. Sweetie, I think Tug is right... instead of Culture Club... you need Grace Jones: "I Need a Man!" Maybe once all that crazy ass snow melts your sister can fly up for a visit and talk you down off that ledge.... at least long enough for a night or 2 at "the Urges!"

  15. Honey, I've been in a funk the whole damn winter! I usually feel a bit of that as the winter goes on, but right from the get-go I was feeling that way. And I've heard from quite a few other people that it's gotten to them more this year than others. I don't know if it's the general atmosphere in the country these days, or an especially snowy winter for some, but it's been nasty, and I can sympathize. I feel your pain. {{big hugs}} We'll get through it! XOXO
