My New Toy

I bit the bullet and bought a new phone - the Motorola Cliq.  Unfortunately, I am an IDIOT when it comes to technology (remember, I don't know how to operate an Ipod) - so this thing is baffling to me.  But the phone was pretty, and it had a keyboard to make texting easier, so I bought it.

One thing I DO know is that only about 9 numbers from my old SIM card transferred, so I need to get everyone's numbers again.  There's one catch, the only way I've figured out how to save a number is if you TEXT me (not call).  Yes, I know I'm an idiot - but I was born in 1967 and it takes me a while to figure things out.  If anyone needs help troubleshooting his/her 8-track player, I'm your guy - but fancy cell phones scare the hell outta me.

So, if you have my telephone number, please TEXT me.  Include your email address in your text so I can create a full profile for everyone.

  1. Put your sim card back into your old phone - there should be an option to re-save all of the numbers in your address book to the sim card. That's what I had to do when I was using my Dad's Blackjack for a few weeks.

  4. Ginger -

Surprisingly, the instruction booklet is extremely incomplete (usually they are TOO detailed - this one is more like a pamphlet). It goes on and on about how I can "synch" my Twitter/Email/Whatevs, but doesn't go into detail about basic stuff like how you edit/manage contacts.

So frustrating - I'm thinking about returning the damn thing.

  5. I have an aversion to phones in general due to doing computer support over the phone for a few years - but the ones I've seen in the last ten years or so mostly have desktop software that is either included on a cd or can be downloaded. It makes syncing your contacts and keeping track of the info on your phone much easier.
