Boycott Tarjay !

After a series of shady donations to anti-gay political causes by Target and Target Executives, then reneging on a promise to make things right with the gay community, MoveOn.Org and others are calling for a boycott of the company.

Bob gives some excellent background information HERE, and you can go HERE to sign MoveOn's petition.

And even if you have to go to KMart (quelle horreur!), don't give Target a dime of your gay (or gay-friendly) money until they make things right.  After all, the Gays put that store on the map ... Tarjay would be about as fashionable as a Flashdance sweatshirt with neon-green legwarmers if it wasn't for us Gays.  Ungrateful bastards...

  2. you know, i hate to be debbie downer here, but... if i boycotted every company who did hateful shit, i'd never shop anywhere, ever. i'd be a luddite vegan hippie, living off the grid and growing all my own food.

yes, i hate what target did ~ if you question that, you don't know me ~ but i'm not going to stop shopping there. (luckily, i barely shop at target as it is... my 3-4 trips per year won't make a difference one way or the other.)

  3. and besides... it's the SUPREME COURT that decided corporations have the "right" to free speech and can therefore spend unlimited amounts on elections. where was the outrage 6 months ago when all this was going down (i refer the left collectively, and moveon.org specifically ~ not david/dust bunnies)? it barely made a blip in the national news for chrissakes. i remember it being talked about "below the fold" on huffington post pre-ruling and then a little bit the day after, but now? nada. even when obama talked about the ruling, detailing the ways in which congress can limit the affects of the ruling (like requiring companies to disclose amounts/candidates they donate to), it didn't get enough attention, imho.

furthermore, i hate the ruling in general, and therefore won't be making my buying decisions based on the way a company donates their money. i don't want a corporation sponsoring a dem candidate, either ~ the whole shebang turns my stomach.

  4. Man this sucks, I shop at Target since Wal-Mart is such a vile company! Out here in the wild west there are no other alternatives, K-Mart packed up and left years ago...
