when the DoI was drafted, colonists laid out their case against king george, essentially accusing him of being a slave driver b/c of the way he was treating the colonists. naturally, the colonists caught their missteps and corrected the document's language so as not to condemn slavery as a whole. b/c it doesn't count if a person's skin's not white, right? :/ so teabaggers of today would be right in step ~ racially-speaking ~ w/ the founding fathers. ironic, right?
