Last night on Project Runway was the eagerly-awaited "hat episode" - featuring legendary milliner Philip Treacy. I was surprised by how much dreck was sent down the runway - those hats were so fantastic, but many of the designers didn't seem to get too inspired.
I loved that Michael Costello won (outfit above) - if only because it pissed Gretchen and the others off. And BTW, I'm ready to stab the annoying Casanova in the neck with a dirty fork - he better keep wearing those scarves for protection ...
Did you watch? Any thoughts or commentary??
Isn't it supposed to be really hot in the workrooms? They turn off the AC because it messes with the sound recording. That scarf must boil his head. Which explains a lot.
ReplyDeleteWe were flummoxed by the MichaelC win but loves MichaelC so we don't care.
We got all giggly over Peach's short skirt remark about not showing the 'fine china'. And we caught her TLo quote about 'short, tight and shiny'. We loves her but fear for her.
Can you imagine teams next week?! OMG!
I would have much rather seen them challenged to design clothing to go with shoes, handbags, or jewelry; something that women actually wear. Those hats were about as practical as a dress made at the party store. Seriously, I am regularly up and down the entire west coast, and I've never seen a woman under 60 in a hat. Are things really that differenct in NYC?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, hope you get a chance to have some ummy-yummy Arby's this weekend!
Peter -
ReplyDeleteYeah, nobody wears hats anymore - but they were really there for inspiration (like the museum challenges, etc). However, I was surprised by how very UNinspired some of the designs were.
XOXOXOXOXO
Yes, watched and, so far, am liking this season. Very happy for Michael C and I dislike Gretchen and her unsolicitated advice more than I dislike Casanova, who is a character...although, I don't think he will be around very long.
ReplyDeleteLike having more "Tim time" and also more comments from the "sewtestants".
Glad they did away with Models of the Runway.......Austin and Santino are a better follow up and can be quite funny...though seems pretty "scripted" at times.
xoxoxo
Miss Ginger finds that Gretchen bitch MOST distasteful... if she usually the phrase "it looks like student work" one more time Miss Ginger may have to reach through the TV cables and strangle her! How someone as Midwestern as Peach got named after the Southland's favorite fruit is beyond me! Casanova irritates me as much as I initially thought Mondo would. Now I think Mondo is sort sweet, in a little brother kinda way. Not sweet in Christopher kinda "hubba hubba" way! And the guy with the beard would be cute if he didn't have the voice to which Miss G aspires.
ReplyDeleteAnd the 2 high school bitches that talk a million miles an hour wear me out. Death to them both.
Diaper girl should have gone home. She sucks, and that think was ridiculous. The black dress was ugly, but that diaper thing was something else!!
I didn't like that Michael C's dress was rusty-orange while the hat was red, but apparently I can't see as much on my crappy tv screen - I didn't notice any orangy glitter on the hat. Still glad he won.
ReplyDeleteI liked Christopher's - didn't get all the sad/dark/drapes commentary.
I liked the other Michael's outfit - figured him for the win.
Also liked AJ's polka dot dress.
Gretchen & Ivy both shut up!!!!!
Kristen really deserved to be sent home. Her hat was so gorgeous and could have been stunning with something light and springtime-y, but she threw together that heavy black hot mess and just missed the boat. Which was a good thing for April.
ReplyDeleteI thought the hats were magnificent!
