Congratulations To Boy G!

Many of you know Miss Ginger Grant (above left) - fabulous drag queen, blogger, world traveler, long-time Dustbunny, and personal friend of Moi. But fewer have heard of Ginger's less flashy half - George (above right - posing in front of Roast Beef Nirvana). Well, George is about to become just as well-known as Ginger - because yesterday was officially declared "George Burch Day" by the Mayor of Houston!

The honor was bestowed upon George at the 8th annual luncheon for Houston's Legacy Community Health Services, which has specialized in providing HIV/AIDS testing, education, treatment and social services since the early 1980s, in addition to providing comprehensive healthcare to the entire community.  This year's luncheon was organized specifically to honor George for all the hard work he has done on behalf of Legacy and other charities in Houston. So George prepared a speech, gut all gussied up, and went to the luncheon to recieve his well-deserved accolades.

What he did NOT expect was to receive an award directly from Houston Mayor Annise Parker - who declared September 21st to be "George Burch Day" in the city of Houston. Sounds like one of those drinking holidays - like St. Patrick's Day or Cinco de Mayo. Cheers!

Read all about it on Ginger's blog HERE - and make sure to leave a comment congratulating George (and Ginger) on a job well done!!
