Rich Get More - Middle/Working Class Gets LESS

The proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2012 has been released by the Obama Administration. Here is an interesting blurb from The Huffington Post:
Less than two months after signing tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans into law, President Barack Obama proposed a spending plan to Congress that cuts funding to programs that assist the working poor, help the needy heat their homes, and expand access to graduate-level education, undermining the kind of community-based organizations that helped Obama launch his political career in Chicago.

The richest Americans got tax cuts (including an estimated $2.7 tax break for Rush Limbaugh and $1.5 million for Glenn Beck) - which they absolutely did not need and which won't stimulate the economy. Meanwhile - poor people who are having trouble KEEPING WARM during winter are just gonna have to suck it up. That doesn't sound like "shared sacrifices" to me.

I wish the leadership of the Democratic Party would stand up and start screaming about how WRONG this is, instead of protecting the rich people who help get them elected. I expect this kind of evil from Republicans, but Democrats were/are supposed to be different.

  1. I have to admit that I've been pretty disappointed with Obama on many fronts. But this goes even beyond just him. It really disgusts me that, as a country, we seem far more concerned about saving money for rich people than helping those who need help the most.
