Today marks the Diamond Jubilee (60th anniversary) of the reign of Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, Ireland and the British Dominions beyond the Seas Queen, Defender of the Faith.
From MSNBC:
The queen came to the throne on Feb. 6, 1952. She celebrated her 25-year Silver Jubilee in 1977 and her 50-year Golden Jubilee in 2002. The only other British monarch to celebrate a Diamond Jubilee was Queen Victoria in 1897.
Long live the Queen!
God Save Our Gracious Queen... or something like that, la dee la dee da.
ReplyDeleteBeen a while since I had to sing that :-)
I remember when she became Queen. I had a coloring book about her coronation. I was 9. Doesn't she look good in that photograph!
ReplyDeleteLiz rocks and before the Olympics we're going to have a party to let her know!
ReplyDeletewell, I hope you were a proper queen today and wore your rocks in her honor!
ReplyDeleteIn reality, her father died on February 6th 1952..
ReplyDeleteBut she was crowned only one year later.. On February 1953..
No matter all the contreversy about monarchy here in Canada or even in UK, Elizabeth is a great woman and she never failed to her duty.
God save the Queen..
