Never had one outside our home, but we DID encounter one while hiking on the "Long Beach" peninsula in Washington. She just looked at us and could tell we were cat people (hahaha) and moved right on. Didn't see the warning about mountain lion with cubs until we got back down the trail; the warning wasn't stopping any of the other hikers.
