A Day With HIV In America

From Joe.My.God. And yes - you read that correctly: a 90 day supply of Atripla (which I take) costs over $5,500. Luckily for me, the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) pays 100% of that here in New York. But in places like South Carolina - people are put on waiting lists.

  1. I feel ya there. I am on Truvada, Norvir, and Prezista and it runs about $2,500 every 30 days...

    It's insane.

  2. It's ridiculous that money is spent on bull shiz and people who need these meds to keep their HIV under control must sit and wait.
    Disgusting!

  3. actually, it's $10,000+, according to that man's bag... "your insurance company saved you $5683.08" ~ i guess it's good to know they do SOMETHING, but this is still completely ridiculous. and like everyone else, i'd love a cure, but can you imagine what they'd charge for THAT?!?

  4. And I thought being in the donut hole was bad at $500 a month! Damn! I'm so glad there's a program that helps you and others in NYC. Thank goodness! Men can get Viagra covered by insurance and not a life-saving prescription? Insane!
