Inmate Goes Kosher For Festivus

A convicted drug dealer in Orange County, California disliked all the salami they were feeding him in prison - so he petitioned to receive kosher meals instead. The inmate cited his belief in "Festivus", the holiday made famous on Seinfeld, as the reason behind his kosher requirements.

Although Festivus is actually a real thing (it was made up by the father of one of Seinfeld's writers), keeping kosher is not a Festivus tradition. "Feats of Strength"? Yes. Matzoh Ball Soup? No.

The inmate received kosher Festivus meals for two months before the county got the order thrown out in court (AKA "The Airing of the Grievances").
