There's a great post over at Daily Kos about the extremely dissimilar Republican and Democratic party platforms. Two examples:
The word gay is not mentioned in the Republican platform. It is mentioned four times in the Democratic platform, twice in a section devoted specifically in support of gay rights.
... and ...
The Republican platform mentions HIV or AIDS four times, noting that abstinence protects against it, and taking note of PEPFAR, the AIDS relief program developed under President Bush. The Democratic platform mentions the terms 10 times, with no mention of abstinence but taking note that the party has upped spending to combat the disease to its highest level ever.
The differences are vast - check out the entire post HERE.

I struggle with understanding why anyone would vote Republican. It may be my European values but from this side of the world their stance on most things seems so alien and dated. At a glance at the two candidates it would appear to me that the clear winner of this upcoming election should be Obama but is this going to be the case? I would feel sad if all the progress made is reversed.
I'm so worried about this election. Republicans are voting against Obama, not for Mittens. Most of them are voting against their own best interests too. It doesn't make sense, but there are so many ignorant people out there that is scares me even more.
