Some are good, Tyne Daly and Bernadette Peters, while some are interesting, Betty Buckley, and some are laughbale, Linda Lavin, but La LuPone teaches the master class!!
I loved LuPone, and honestly, I think Linda Lavin did a great job. Betty Buckley made me think "who cast Julie Andrews?" Bernadette caught the crazy stage mother angle, and Bette was just plain CRAZY! Great song- one of Ginger's favorites!
I gotta go with Lansbury and Daly on this one. Betty Buckley's voice is just too thin for that role. I read Lupone's memoir and she just came off as extremely unlikeable to me so i just can't enjoy her performances that much any more. But really, NOBODY belts it like The Merm!!!
