Willy Wonka Cast Reunion

Notice the typo: "Willie" is misspelled

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory recently celebrated it's 40th anniversary, so the Today Show marked the occasion by reuniting some of the surviving cast.

In related news: I AM OLD.

Duuuuuuuuuuude

Doctor gave some Percocet and (something else) and - in the immortal words of Ginny Baker on her wedding day in Sixteen Candles - "WOW ... do I feel FUNKY!"

My Doctor also said I can't work until Monday (since shingles is contagious) - but this sucks because I'll  lose a week's pay (no sick days where I work). But at least the pain is gone.

In the meantime, there will be very little blogging until I stop acting like THIS:

Star Wars Movies To Be Released In 3-D!

OMGOMGOMGOMG!! Yes, the Star Wars nerd in me just peed myself a little while reading that all six Star Wars movies are coming out in 3-D!. According to THR, The Phantom Menace will hit theaters in 2012, with the other five films to be released (in order) each consecutive year.

Which means I'll be 48 years old when Star Wars: A New Hope is released.  Oy - I hope my brittle old bones will be able to make it to the popcorn counter.

The Breakfast Club Turns 25 Years Old

One of my favorite movies from my teen years - The Breakfast Club - celebrated its 25th anniversary this week at an event in NYC. In attendance were Anthony Michael Hall, Molly Ringwald (my sister-in-my-head), Ally Sheedy and Judd Nelson. Emilio Estevez did not attend.

CONCLUSION? ... I am ancient.

"Cousin Eddie" Is Still Broke

According to Gawker, actor Randy Quaid (who played "Cousin Eddie" in all the Vacation movies) and his wife, Evi, were arrested for squatting in their old house - which they had sold three years ago.  Furthermore, the Quaids were busted last year for using bad credit cards. Damn economy!

Below are their latest mugshots ... but could someone please tell me why Evi is grinning like she just won the Bingo tournament at the local Knights of Columbus hall? ...

I guess it's time for Cousin Eddie to dust off the white shoes and hit up Clark for another loan...

What's Your Favorite Movie Quote?

Wesley over at Swish Embassy did a "favorite movie quote" post recently, and I've decided to steal the idea for myself.  Thanks for the inspiration Cutie!!

My favorite movie quote comes from Auntie Mame.  Mame (played by Rosalind Russell) is chatting with her young nephew Patrick during a cocktail party, when Patrick notices Mame's drunken best friend Vera and asks...

Patrick: Is the English lady sick, Auntie Mame?
Auntie Mame: She's not English, darling... she's from Pittsburgh.
Patrick: She sounded English.
Auntie Mame: Well, when you're from Pittsburgh, you have to do SOMETHING.

What is YOUR favorite movie quote?...

David's Favorite Things...

I'm like Oprah these days, talking about "my favorite things" - but the other night I got to see one of my favorite movies ever - South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut. I never go to the movies, but I paid to see that movie TWICE when it came out in 1999. I have always been a huge fan of South Park.

And the best line from this movie? One of the running jokes in the film is the fact that Saddam Hussein and Satan are lovers, and they live together in Hell. But Satan doesn't like how Saddam treats him:
Satan: How come you always want to make love to me from behind? Is it because you want to pretend that I'm someone else?

Saddam Hussein: Satan, your ass is gigantic and red. Who am I going to pretend you are, Liza Minnelli?
Classic.

Gone With The Wind

One of my favorite movies - Gone With the Wind - is on Turner Classic Movies right now. Scarlett just told that wussy Ashley Wilkes that she loved him at Twelve Oaks plantation. Of course Ashley whined about loving Melanie and then scurried off to fight the war.

When I was a young gayling, The Wizard of Oz was my favorite movie. I couldn't wait until it's annual showing on CBS - and I would literally count down the days. I SWEAR, it was in my gay little DNA to be obsessed with a movie starring Judy Garland.

But as I got older, I began looking forward to the annual two-night showing of Gone with the Wind. Remember, all you young little beeyotches, this was before HBO and TCM - we had to wait a whole year to watch our favorite movies. And we walked uphill to school ... BOTH WAYS!

What movies did you like growing up?...
