This picture was taken a half-block away from my new apartment (see more pics HERE). My neighborhood (Astoria) is extremely diverse - but I had no idea there were so many actual Spaniards (or at least fans of Spanish soccer) around. After Spain won the World Cup on Sunday I could hear people cheering and horns honking all over my neighborhood.

Are You Watching??
I don't know about you, but I'll be glad when things get back to normal and people stop caring about Soccer again.

World Cup Takes NYC By Storm
The World Cup is a HUGE deal here in NYC - due to the fact that there are so many people from so many different countries living here. In my new neighborhood there are Greek, Mexican and Italian flags flying from houses in support of those teams. And everyone, it seems, is wearing his or her country's colors...
But it's in the bars and restaurants of NYC where people can really enjoy the action. When Italy plays, crowds descend upon Little Italy. When South Korea plays, the bars and restaurants of Koreatown get packed. Etc...
Bar/restaurant owners are LOVING this extra business - and many have created elaborate specials for patrons watching the games.
My feelings about the World Cup, however, can be summed up thusly...
