Today's Dance Break features the DIVA of the dance floor - Martha Wash - who also happened to be a guest judge on last night's RuPaul's Drag Race.
Tom & Lorenzo said it best today regarding Ms. Wash...
Let's give it up for Martha Wash, who is a GODDESS to any queen over the age of 35. Her voice has pretty much provided the soundtrack to every Pride event in the world for going-on 30 years.
So true. Wash started as a backup singer for Sylvester, then became one-half of the Weather Girls, followed by "ghost-singing" vocals on dance hits in the 80's/90's. I say "ghost-singing" because Wash wasn't given vocalist credit because she was too large for the age of video.
That is until Ms. Wash took their trifflin' asses to court resulting in a law REQUIRING vocal credit for all recordings. Don't mess with the Big Girls...
Here is Martha belting lead vocals for my favorite Black Box song, I Don't Know Anybody Else...
Keep on dancin' ...
