A disoriented swarm of ants separated from the main colony forms a circular mill called “The Death Spiral” — so named because the ants will continue to march in circles until they perish from exhaustion.

Wow, that's pretty, well, cool doesn't seem like the right word. Fascinating, I guess, which makes me sound very nerdy. I went a-googling on this and it's been observed in Army Ants since the 40's. Thanks for the post.
