Learn It: "Nobel Peace Prize Laureate" President Barack Obama

In a surprise move, President Barack Obama was just awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize. Cue crazed shrieking from Outer Wingnuttistan in 3 ... 2 ... 1 ... TRUST ME, conservative assticklers will try to figure out a way to make winning a Nobel Peace Prize a BAD thing.

109-Year-Old Daughter Of Slaves Votes For Obama

An uplifting story from the Austin (TX) American-Statesman:

Amanda Jones, 109, the daughter of a man born into slavery, has lived a life long enough to touch three centuries. And after voting consistently as a Democrat for 70 years, she has voted early for the country's first black presidential nominee, voting by mail.

The middle child of 13, Jones, who is African American, is part of a family that has lived in Bastrop County (TX) for five generations. The family has remained a fixture in Cedar Creek and other parts of the county, even when its members had to eat at segregated barbecue dives and walk through the back door while white customers walked through the front, said Amanda Jones' 68-year-old daughter, Joyce Jones...

Amanda Jones says she cast her first presidential vote for Franklin Roosevelt, but she doesn't recall which of his four terms that was. When she did vote, she paid a poll tax, her daughters said. That she is able, for the first time, to vote for a black presidential nominee for free fills her with joy, Jones said.

Barack Obama's Infomercial

I watched the Barack Obama infomercial tonight, and I was extremely impressed. The differences between Obama and Ron Popeil John McCain are so obvious.

Did anyone else watch? What did you think?

Now where in the hell did I put that Salad Spinner??...

Since I was watching Project Runway last night, I didn't see much of the debate. Any thoughts?

I'm Voting For "That One"

Thoughts On The Debate...

I worked my part-time job during the second presidential debate, so I had to watch it on a smallish laptop. But even on that little screen, John McCain just seemed CREEPY. He's like a combination of the Town Pervert and the Crypt Keeper. Yuck.

Barack Obama, on the other hand, made me feel so proud to be a Democrat. He talked directly to the people, answered the questions (for the most part), and gave me such hope for the future. Shit might look bad now, but Obama will do everything in his power to make it better - just give him a chance.

And when McCain referring to Obama as "That One" - WTF?!? Listen old man, he has a title and a name, and is to be referred to as "Senator Obama". You ancient asshole ... I mean, "Senator McCain".

Lady Bunny posted the following joke on her blog, and it just cracked me up:

John McCain and Barack Obama somehow ended up at the same barbershop.

As they sat there, each being worked on by a different barber, not a word was spoken. The barbers were even afraid to start a conversation, for fear it would turn to politics.

As the barbers finished their shaves, the one who had McCain in his chair reached for the aftershave. McCain was quick to stop him saying, 'No thanks, my wife will smell that and think I've been in a whorehouse.'

The second barber turned to Obama and said, 'How about you?'

Obama replied, 'You can go ahead, MY wife doesn't know what the inside of a whorehouse smells like.'

If you would like to help Barack Obama become the President of the United States of America, I beg you to join the Dust Bunnies for Obama.
Even ten bucks will help - and all money goes directly and immediately to the Obama campaign. Click HERE to contribute - and many thanks to those of you who have already given.

Dust Bunnies For Obama

Yesterday I told you about Dust Bunnies for Obama, the ActBlue page I set up for DavidDust readers to contribute to the Obama campaign.

I would like to thank the person who matched my $50 contribution yesterday - and I implore some others to jump on board. Even a $10 donation will help.

Think of it this way - I spend hours and hours each week trying to put together an entertaining blog for you all, and I'm finally asking for something in return. Not for me, but for this country. This election is too important for us to lose, and money is the most important tool to help build a victory.

We have only 8 weeks to go before election day - and I am going to be bugging the shit out of you all to contribute until then. Again, I'm sorry for this - but I don't ask for much. For those of you who have already contributed to the Obama campaign elsewhere - THANK YOU. You know who you are, and there is no need to justify anything to me. But for any and all of you that can afford a $10.00 charge to your credit card, and haven't donated ANYTHING yet - please take 1 minute and donate through the Dust Bunnies for Obama ActBlue page.

CLICK HERE to go to the Dust Bunnies for Obama page. Let's try and get 3 new donors today. Remember, even $10 will help!

FYI - ActBlue is an online clearinghouse that funnels money to Democratic candidates (especially progressive ones) at the federal and state level. Many of the progressive/liberal blogs (Daily Kos, MyDD, AmericaBlog) utilize ActBlue as a place where their readers can concentrate their donations - thereby letting candidates know that the progressive blogosphere matters. Since 2004, ActBlue has raised over $63 million for Democrats.

Dust Bunnies For Obama

To My Darling Dust Bunnies -

I try not to ask you - my loyal readers - for much, but it's time for me to start making some noise. This upcoming election is too important for us to ignore - and right now the right-wing Republican attack machine is energized and raising money like crazy. Lying Sarah Palin has the Fundamentalist Crazies FIRED UP, and their money-machine is going into overdrive. In addition, the McCain/Palin campaign is eligible for $84 million in federal election funding to spend in the General Election.

The Obama campain, on the other hand, has decided to forego federal funding and is relying on us - the people who care about the direction this country is going in - to keep his campaign running. The New York Times reported today that Obama's recent fundraising goals are NOT being met (read it here).

Therefore, it is up to US to do what we can - so I've started a Dust Bunnies for Obama fundraising page on ActBlue. Please contribute what you can, and show your Dust Bunny spirit.

for Dust Bunnies For Obama

Most of you know that I don't have a pot to piss in when it comes to money - but I've started off with a $50 donation - which is what I can afford right now. Even if it's only $5.00, it will help - and it only takes 1 minute of your time.

Please do what you can.

Love and Hugs to you all!!

XOXOXOXO

David

Obama To Pick Female General As V.P.?

According to this post from Joe.My.God, the Obama campaign is considering Lieutenant General Claudia Kennedy as a potential Vice Presidential nominee. Kennedy is the highest ranking female officer in the history of the U.S. Army, and is a retired three star general.

She also supports the repeal of the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.
