Congratulations To Boy G!

Many of you know Miss Ginger Grant (above left) - fabulous drag queen, blogger, world traveler, long-time Dustbunny, and personal friend of Moi. But fewer have heard of Ginger's less flashy half - George (above right - posing in front of Roast Beef Nirvana). Well, George is about to become just as well-known as Ginger - because yesterday was officially declared "George Burch Day" by the Mayor of Houston!

The honor was bestowed upon George at the 8th annual luncheon for Houston's Legacy Community Health Services, which has specialized in providing HIV/AIDS testing, education, treatment and social services since the early 1980s, in addition to providing comprehensive healthcare to the entire community.  This year's luncheon was organized specifically to honor George for all the hard work he has done on behalf of Legacy and other charities in Houston. So George prepared a speech, gut all gussied up, and went to the luncheon to recieve his well-deserved accolades.

What he did NOT expect was to receive an award directly from Houston Mayor Annise Parker - who declared September 21st to be "George Burch Day" in the city of Houston. Sounds like one of those drinking holidays - like St. Patrick's Day or Cinco de Mayo. Cheers!

Read all about it on Ginger's blog HERE - and make sure to leave a comment congratulating George (and Ginger) on a job well done!!

Annise Parker Elected Houston's Next Mayor

From the Houston Chronicle:
Annise Danette Parker was elected mayor of Houston on Saturday, winning her seventh consecutive city election and becoming both the first contender in a generation to defeat the hand-picked candidate of Houston's business establishment and the first openly gay person to lead a major U.S. city.

Congratulations to Ms. Parker! But I would like to remind her that it was probably the ever-important endorsement of the DavidDust Editorial Board that put her over the top. If you remember, DavidDust officially endorsed Annise Parker yesterday.

And in case you're wondering who else (besides me) is on the Editorial Board - it is a three-member panel consisted of myself and these two...

Although Dusty (left) and Ocsar (right) usually sleep through the meetings.

DavidDust Endorses Annise Parker For Houston Mayor

Today is the run-off election for the Democratic nomination for Houston Mayor. And as it is in most cities, the Democrat usually wins in the general election (except in NYC, for some strange reason) - so it's important for you Houston Dust Bunnies to get out and vote today.

Annise Parker (above) - the openly lesbian (and most qualified) candidate has been the target of homophobic mailers and emails from bigots who don't want Parker to become the first openly gay woman to run a major U.S. city. They say Parker's election will "open the floodgates to the homosexual agenda", which includes...

The Homosexual Agenda

  1. Legalize same sex marriage
  2. Mandate public acceptance of the homosexual activities.
  3. Teach homosexuality to school children, starting in kindergarten, as an acceptable, alternative lifestyle. This is known as multisexualism. This enables homosexuals to recruit children to their lifestyle.
  4. Lower or remove age of consent laws leading to relaxation of laws prohibiting pedophilia.
  5. Elevate homosexuals to a minority class, leading to affirmative action for homosexuals in the workplace. Cross dressers could force employers to accept their actions at work.
  6. Prohibit any speech which opposes homosexual activity. This would be considered “hate speech” and have criminal sanctions. This would destroy 1st Amendment free speech rights for those who oppose homosexual conduct and the homosexual political movement.
  7. Require employee benefits to be provided to same sex partners.
  8. Elect candidates to office who will work to implement the homosexual agenda.

Us Gays are busy!! And here I thought the "Homosexual Agenda" was all about throw pillows and gym memberships. That just shows how little I know.

Anywhore, you can check out Annise Parker's website HERE ... and then get out and vote!

Anti-Gay "Christians" Launch Campaign Against Annise Parker

If you follow The Fabulous Blog of Miss Ginger Grant, you know about Houston's openly lesbian mayoral candidate Annise Parker. Parker won with 38% of the vote on election day and faces a December 12th runoff in her quest to become the first openly-gay female mayor of a major U.S. city.

Enter the "Haters For Jeebus" crowd, who fear a "gay takeover" of Houston City Hall. According to Joe.My.God, conservative haters have organized an anti-Parker campaign in order to defeat the "scary lesbian"...
A cluster of socially conservative Houstonians is planning a campaign to discourage voters from choosing City Controller Annise Parker in the December mayoral runoff because she is a lesbian, according to multiple ministers and conservatives involved in the effort. The group is motivated by concerns about a “gay takeover” of City Hall, given that two other candidates in the five remaining City Council races are also openly gay, as well as national interest driven by the possibility that Houston could become the first major U.S. city to elect an openly gay woman.

To help battle these evil haters and support Annise Parker's historic campaign, go to her website HERE.

Houston Is Hurting

Str8 Up With A Twist blogger (and Dust Bunny) Timmy has been blogging from his home in Houston about Hurricane Ike. Apparently, things there are pretty bad - he hasn't had power since Friday, and a fence fell on his car. He said the storm was worse than they ever thought it would be.

Dust Bunny Miss Ginger Grant has escaped Houston and gone to Atlanta - check out her blog HERE to see pics of the flooding/devastation before she left.

Please send prays and positive thoughts in Houston's direction - they could use it. I would also love to hear from all my Houston Dust Bunnies (MOF, AlnHouston) to see if they are OK. Please check in if you can. If I missed anyone, I apologize - please know that we are thinking about you!

Hang in there.

XOXOXOXOXO
