As you might have heard, the New York Yankees lost owner George Steinbrenner and longtime Yankee announcer (since 1951!) Bob Sheppard during this past week. And if you know anything about baseball, there is no greater rivalry in all of sports than the one between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. The teams and their fans genuinely dislike each other and have no problems showing their hatred toward their rivals.
So when I saw that the Boston Red Sox held a moment of silence at Fenway before their game with the Texas Rangers to honor Steinbrenner and Sheppard, I was floored.
Dear Red Sox - thanks for being a class act.

RIP George! Whether you loved him or hated him, he'll be missed.
That's very touching indeed. Reminds me at times that Baseball is STILL a gentleman's sport even with all the shadiness going all these days...
Kudos Beantown!
It's always nice to see those moments of decency in the world of sports. SO much bad behavior is demonstrated by atheletes these days, that these moments of grace are especially touching.
