True Blood Vampire Pam Made Me Cry
And not because she tried to drink my blood and/or murder me. It's because Kristin Bauer - who plays Fangtasia bar owner Pam Swynford De Beaufort on True Blood - has recorded one of the most sincere It Gets Better videos ever.

We're Looking at YOU Yankees and Mets
Here's the score: The Chicago Cubs have announced their intent to make an It Gets Better video in support of LGBT youth. The San Francisco Giants have already produced one:
So now it's time, New York, to "step up to the plate". Yankees: are you gonna wait until the friggin RED SOX make a video** before you get off your (extremely well-toned and gorgeous) butts? Mets: let's face it, ya'll don't have much else going on - might as well do your part to stop anti-gay bullying and prevent LGBT suicide.
New York's LGBT community is waiting....
** UPDATE: Dammit - that was fast! The hated Red Sox are doing it too. Thanks cariboubarbie for the heads up.

Michael Anthony: "It Gets Better"
This hysterical-yet-touching "It Gets Better" video/cartoon was sent in by a formerly awkward gay kid and (former?) Reba McEntire fan Michael Anthony - who is now a fabulous adult. PLEASE pour yourself a glass of Franzia wine (TIP IT, Kathleen!) and watch, you'll be glad you did ...

Yigit Pura Hits The Beach
I spotted these pics of out-and-proud Top Chef: Just Dessertestant Yigit Pura over at Towleroad. And since I'm too damn tired to watch the show tonight, I'll just have to make do with Yigit's adorable "It Gets Better" video...

President Obama - "It Gets Better"
I realize that many people (especially those of us in the LGBT community) are upset with the President and the current administration over the handling of DADT and other issues. I too am disappointed and upset. However, it's things like this - President Obama speaking directly to LGBT kids at risk of suicide - that reminds me why I voted for him.
Ask yourself this: would a "President McCain" or a "President Palin" {{shudder}} or even President George W. Bush have made a video like this?? Absolutely not.
It's a heartfelt, well-written, and sincerely delivered message. Let's try to divorce this effort from "the other issue" and talk about what a message like this from the president of the United States might mean to a young queer kid. And once again, let's thank Dan Savage for what is easily the most successful and widely-heard pro-gay campaign in the history of our movement.

Tim Gunn - "It Gets Better"
From Dan Savage, the creator of the fantastic "It Gets Better" project:
"Okay, celeb videos have been pouring in over the last 24 hours, and I'm floored and thrilled. But this one made me scream like a little girl".
On a more somber note, national treasure Tim Gunn admits that he too attempted suicide as a gay teenager...

Chris Crocker - "It Gets Better"
Wow - a surprisingly well-spoken and moving "It Gets Better" video from Chris Crocker. In it, he reveals that he was victimized by cyber-bullies after posting his "Leave Britney ALONE!" video ...

It Gets Better
I wish every LGBT kid out there could read these beautiful and touching words from Athenae at First Draft. This is SO very true ...
You'll have friends you haven't met yet. God, will you have friends. Friends whose faith will give you faith, whose strength will awe and inspire you, whose company you'll glory in. You'll be courageous with them beside you. You'll laugh so hard your sides hurt. You'll go to baseball games and football games and plays and farmer's markets and out to dinner and brunch and to movies and plays together. They'll come to your parties. You'll go to theirs. They'll e-mail you four times a day and you'll drop everything to answer. You'll babysit their kids and love that their kids know your names. You'll pick them up from the airport and they'll cook for you when you're sick. They'll follow your life like a soap opera and you'll follow theirs. You'll go for months without speaking but think of them every day. You'll think, every day, how lucky you are to have found them. You'll wonder, every day, why they put up with you and sometimes you'll get down and feel broken and unworthy, and they'll come around, and they'll lift you up again.
You'll fill your house with them whenever you can, and as you're in the other room getting drinks you'll hear them laughing and talking. The paint might be peeling and you didn't get a promotion and nobody's making enough money, and everybody in the room is fighting some kind of battle every day and so are you, but you'll hear these people talking and laughing in your home and the love you feel will almost choke you. You'll feel ten feet tall. You'll think to yourself, "I have the life I wanted." And your greatest fear will not be that you'll never get there but that it will all be taken away.
