Unto Us A Quarterback Is Born

Tim Tebow thanked his "Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" multiple times today during his introductory press conference with the NY Jets.

The Baby Jeebus - formerly a Broncos fan - is now rooting for the Jets, just so you know...

I Fell In Love During The Super Bowl

I normally don't pay much attention to the NFL, but since the Giants (and Madonna) were playing in the Superbowl I decided to watch. And all of a sudden, there he was on my TV screen - the Tight End of my dreams, Aaron Hernandez. Oh ... em ... gee ... he almost had me rooting for the Patriots...

Ouch

I guess Jeebus isn't THAT big of a Tim Tebow fan after all...

Are You Ready For Some Football?

After four and a half months of negotiations, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, NFL Players Association head DeMaurice Smith, and a number of owners and players announced that football is back, reports the Los Angeles Times.
The 2011-12 season will be kicking off on September 8 when the New Orleans Saints are hosted by Super Bowl champs the Green Bay Packers.
A proposed 10-year deal ended the lockout that began in March, and both sides came out of the negotiations with the results that millions of anxious fans were looking for: the NFL is back.

Happy Birthday to Terrell Owens

Controversial NFL wide receiver (and fierce wig-wearing runway model) Terrell Owens turns 37 years old today.

This is where I would normally make a comment about wanting to be Terrell's wide receiver, but today we're going to keep it classy. You're welcome.

Troy Polamalu's 'Do Insured for $1 Million

Pittsburgh Steeler, Samoan heartthrob, former Daddy of the Day, and Head and Shoulders spokesman Troy Polamalu just got his gorgeous hair insured for a cool $1 Million.  Head and Shoulders took out the Lloyds of London policy on Polamalu's hair (which he hasn't cut in 7 years) in order to protect their investment in his luscious locks.  What I wouldn't give to run my fingers through it...

Excuse me, but I think I'm having a bit of a Samoan "moment" (involving a moonlit beach, cocktails with umbrellas, and Troy wearing nothing but his hair)... Yeah Daddy, that's right, go ahead and 'Rough the Passer'...

Sorry, I'm back now. Anywhore, this last picture (below, from Head and Shoulders) absolutely cracks me up.  Excuse me, but the drag queen contestants from the Miss Black Continental Pageant called, and they would ALL like their extensions back...

Head and Shoulders even has a website dedicated to Troy's gorgeous mane - called TroysHair.com.

Esera Tuaolo

Samoan cutie Esera Tuaolo, 41, spent 9 years in the NFL as a defensive lineman - and even played in the 1998 Superbowl.  When he retired in 2002, Tuaolo came out of the closet - becoming only the 3 NFL player to do so. He has since worked with the NFL to combat homophobia in the league, and is a board member of the Gay and Lesbian Athletics Foundation.

Ya Gotta Have Friends...

In the last few days some prominent people and organizations have "come out" in favor of equality for the GLBT community.

Surprisingly, two of these people are from the NFL - and they're both straight. I posted before about Baltimore Raven Brendon Ayanbadejo's words of support. Brendon was followed by New Orleans Saints linebacker Scott Fujita.

According to an interview with the Huffington Post, California native Scott Fujita first became aware of gay and lesbian discrimination when he read about an Arkansas law that mandated ONLY male and female married couples could adopt children. Since Scott was adopted, this bothered him. He knew how many kids were waiting for adoption, and he couldn't understand why any government would make it more difficult for these kids to have a family of their own.

When asked if he faced a backlash from his teammates for his support of gays and lesbians, Fujita replied:
No, I have no concern about that whatsoever. I know who I am. My wife knows who I am. I don't care one way or the other Dave. I imagine that when some of this gets out guys in the locker room might give me a hard time, and they always give me a hard time. They call me the Pinko Communist Fag from Berkeley. I'm used to it. I can take it all.

And considering that Scott "Pinko Commie" Fujita is 6' 5" and weighs 250 pounds, I'm sure he doesn't give a fig what others think - and I thank him for that.

Another ally who went to bat for gay and lesbian rights this week was Microsoft. Microsoft recently donated $100,000 to the Approve Referendum 71 campaign in Washington state. The "Yes on 71" campaign will give Washington domestic partners the same rights as married partners if it is approved/upheld.

The $100,000 from Microsoft is significant, because it's almost double the amount raised by anti-71 "Christian" extremists. Great job, Microsoft!!

And finally, as her newest fan, I must feature the fierce and fabulous Lady Gaga's video which asks you to support the National Equality March in Washington, D.C. As some of you know, Dust Bunny Dan will be representing the Bunny Minions in Washington this weekend - find out how YOU can support the National Equality March HERE.

Shawne Merriman Will Not Be Charged In Tila Beating

I posted last weekend about former Daddy of the Day and NFL linebacker Shawne Merriman being arrested for suspicion of domestic violence against his girlfriend, reality TV star Tila Tequila. According to the San Diego District Attorney, Merriman will not be charged:

"After a thorough review of the investigation into the Sept. 6, 2009 incident at the Poway home of Shawne Merriman, our office has determined there is insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that any crime was committed. The case is now closed."

According to DListed, Tila is already on Twitter complaining about the DA's decision - and looking for a new man.
