The Bad Guy Loses

Hiram "Slasher" Monserrate (above) was defeated in his bid to regain the NY Senate seat he was ousted from after being convicted of slashing his girlfriend.  In yesterday's special election, Assemblyman Jose Peralta (below) won with 65% of the vote vs. 27% for Monserrate - with Republican Robert Beltrani getting only 8%.  You gotta love New York City - even a convicted domestic abuser gets 3 times as many votes as a Republican.

In typical "Only In New York" fashion, Monserrate is expected to run for the NY State Assembly seat that Peralta will be vacating.  Oy.

Residents of Queens: Prevent Monserrate from Returning To Politics!

Barely a month ago, the New York State Senate voted 53-8 to expel Hiram Monserrate after he was convicted of assaulting his girlfriend ... a conviction that netted him "three years probation, 250 hours of community service, a $1000 fine, and one year of domestic abuse counseling."

But in this Tuesday's special election to replace him, Monserrate managed to get on the ballot and is attempting to regain his old seat. And he's attempting to do so by using just the sort of ethical standards you'd expect from someone who would slash his girlfriend's face with broken glass.

Toss in Monserrate's homophobic attacks against his opponent, his anti-marriage equality vote, and his Jesus complex, and you have all the makings of a Republican ... which he was for a about a week last year.

TODAY IS ELECTION DAY - FIGHT BACK NEW YORK!!!  Jose Peralta for NY State Senate...

Assemblyman José Peralta - a supporter of marriage equality - has decided to run against turncoat Senator (and girlfriend abuser) Hiram Monserrate from Queens. Peralta has already earned the support of the Empire State Pride Agenda.

OK, from a purely DavidDust standpoint, I must say that Mr. Peralta is quite handsome an excellent choice (hubba hubba!). What did you expect from me, political analysis?!? I saw "Cute Papi" and the dude had my support. Cutest guy wins ... end of story.
