Sunday Inspiration: West Point Students Walk 22 Hours to Pay Respects at WTC

Andrew, Phil and Gary. Photo by Peter Shankman

Blogger Peter Shankman encountered 3 tired-looking young men yesterday in Manhattan carrying big backpacks. They looked so out-of-place that he ask them what they were doing...
“Well sir, we’re walking from West Point, where we go to school, to Ground Zero to pay our respects.”
I asked them how long they’d been walking, “About 22 hours” was the answer.
I asked them if they were going to do anything when they got there.
“We have an American flag we’d like to hang on one of the fences if we’re permitted to.”
What incredible young men! And damn - I hope they bought Metro-North tickets and took the train back to school - at least they'd be able to sleep!!

Daddy Supports His Gay Daughter

By now you have probably heard the story of 18-year-old high school senior Constance McMillen (below).  Constance, who is gay, wants to attend her high school prom with her girlfriend and wear a tuxedo.  Instead of allowing that to happen, the Itawamba County (Mississippi) School District cancelled the prom altogether.

But I'm here to point out an extremely important and under-analyzed facet of this case ... OMG - just how HOT is Constance's father?!?  Michael McMillen (top), has publicly expressed support for his gay daughter and her efforts to attend prom like any other kid.  Don't MESS with Daddy's Little Girl.

In the dictionary, under "Daddy", there should be a picture of Michael McMillen.  For all the right reasons.

I Believe That Children Are Our Future

The students of Woodrow Wilson Classical High School in Long Beach, CA were not about to let the Haters of the Westboro Baptist Church spread their stank on Wilson's home turf - so the kids did something about it...

I cried like a baby when I watched this.  If these kids represent our future, then we're going to be just fine.
