I normally don't pay much attention to the NFL, but since the Giants (and Madonna) were playing in the Superbowl I decided to watch. And all of a sudden, there he was on my TV screen - the Tight End of my dreams, Aaron Hernandez. Oh ... em ... gee ... he almost had me rooting for the Patriots...

Happy Hump Day!
Dear Baby Jeebus: Please let this day be over soon - because I'm OVER IT. Actually ... if you could send this guy to help me get "over the hump", it would make today much better. Kthxbai. Amen.

Happy Birthday to Terrell Owens
Controversial NFL wide receiver (and fierce wig-wearing runway model) Terrell Owens turns 37 years old today.
This is where I would normally make a comment about wanting to be Terrell's wide receiver, but today we're going to keep it classy. You're welcome.

Esera Tuaolo
Samoan cutie Esera Tuaolo, 41, spent 9 years in the NFL as a defensive lineman - and even played in the 1998 Superbowl. When he retired in 2002, Tuaolo came out of the closet - becoming only the 3 NFL player to do so. He has since worked with the NFL to combat homophobia in the league, and is a board member of the Gay and Lesbian Athletics Foundation.

Brian Sims Tells His Story
In the fall of 2000, Brian Sims was a defensive tacke and the team captain of the Bloomsburg University (PA) football team, and in the video above he shares his story about coming out to his teammates. Actually, as he says it, his fellow athletes "came out" to him.
Personal note: He mentions being in Shippensburg, which is a small college town located about 15 miles from where I was born and raised. I've been in Shippensburg many times (and even partied there), but I've never heard about any drunken Jello wrestling.

Brian Sims is now an attorney living in Philadelphia, where he is extremely active in LGBT issues.

All-American Hunk - Jared Odrick

Jared Odrick is a senior defensive tackle for the Penn State Nittany Lions who was just named to the American Football Coaches Association All-America team. Jared is 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 305 pounds - so it would be frightening NOT to name him a first-team All-American. After all, you wouldn't like him when he's angry...
Odrick is from Lebanon, Pennsylvania - which is close to where I grew up. FYI: Lebanon, PA is NOT pronounced "Leb-a-NON", we pronounce it "LEB-nun". Us simple Pennsylvania Dutch folk don't have time for such foolishness as extra syllables in words. We got crops to plant and wide receivers to tackle.
Thanks to my buddy Dwight Supremacy for sending me information on this mountain of a man.

Giant Dumbasses

New York Giants superstar receiver Plaxico Burress (above and below) shot himself in the thigh at a nightclub in Manhattan Friday night - which will probably end his season and result in weapons charges.

To make matters worse, Burress' teammate and fellow party-goer (and former Daddy of the Day) Antonio Pierce (below) reportedly took the gun and hid it in New Jersey. Pierce's attorney has been frantically trying to keep him from being charged - in exchange for cooperation.

By the looks of these pictures, both Burress and Pierce like to have a few drinks...
