Captain, My Captain

Congratulations to Yankee captain Derek Jeter on his 3,000th hit, which happened on Saturday. From USA Today:
He became the 28th player in Major League Baseball history to reach or surpass 3,000 career base hits. Jeter did it in style too, becoming only the second player after Wade Boggs to get his 3,000th hit on a home run. It was part of a 5-for-5 day he capped by driving in the go-ahead run in the Yankees' 5-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.
That makes Jeter the first Yankee to achieve 3,000 hits in pinstripes. With 3,003 hits he's baseball's active hits leader and only four behind Al Kaline (3,007) of the Detroit Tigers for 26th place on the all-time hits list that includes baseball legends ranging from Hank Aaron and Willie Mays to Stan Musial and Ty Cobb.

All that AND he still looks great while going shirtless and acting silly with his gal, Minka Kellly:

Derek Jeter and Minka Kelly Have a Date at the Altar

New York City's no-longer-most-eligible bachelor Derek Jeter and his girlfriend/fiancee Minka Kelly have set a wedding date - November 5th, 2010.  Nov. 5th is perfect - it will be right after Derek and the Yankees win the World Series ... again.

Just to refresh your memory, when we last checked in with Derek and Minka they were bringing sexy back to St. Barts...

The New York Post broke the wedding story yesterday, after they send a reporter to Oheka Castle in Long Island - a catering facility and the second largest private home in the U.S.  The intrepid Post reporter managed to get a peek at the wedding schedule, and "JETER wedding" was written in for November 5. You gotta love the Rupert Murdoch-owned Post - they are clueless when it comes to politics, but NOBODY covers breaking catering news like they do.

Oheka Castle (above) is the same joint where Kevin Jonas (of the Jonas Brothers) and his chaste Bride got hitched.

Derek Jeter Shows Some Skin In St. Barts

The front page of today's New York Post featured a shirtless Derek Jeter (with his actress-girlfriend Minka Kelly) frolicking in St. Barts - which prompted me to buy a newspaper. I hate supporting Rupert Murdoch (he owns the Post), but in my book shirtless Jeter always trumps ideology. Now that I think about it ... shirtless Jeter trumps pretty much everything.

Derek Jeter's Booty Manhandled By A-Rod!

I have blogged before about the gorgeous force of nature that is Derek Jeter's BOOTAY. Apparently Alex Rodriguez agrees with me.

Happy Birthday Derek Jeter

New York Yankee Captain Derek Jeter turns 35 today - Happy Birthday! When DJ was a rookie, he stopped by the restaurant I worked at a few times, and he was the epitome of the tall, dark and handsome sports star. He was also very polite - but he never failed to notice a gorgeous woman who might walk into the room.

You would not believe how incredibly handsome Derek is in a suit and tie. I once walked past him at the Nike Store, and almost fainted when we got face-to-face. Gorgeous!

But the absolute best place to see Jeter is on the field. I am not lying about this: no matter where you sat at the old Yankee Stadium, you could see Jeter's butt straining against his uniform. Even in the upper deck! That booty should be listed as a New York City Landmark...

Farewell To Yankee Stadium

The New York Yankees played their very last game in “The House That Ruth Built” last night. It was an emotional night, and must admit I shed some tears at the end when team captain (and former Daddy of the Day) Derek Jeter thanked the fans. The Yankees will play across the street at the NEW Yankee Stadium next year.

Many former Yankees returned to take part in the farewell ceremony before the game – including Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, and Reggie Jackson. But perhaps the loudest cheers were for Puerto Rican Papi Bernie Williams, who retired in 2006. Bernie was my favorite Yankee – always laid back, adorable, and an excellent hitter.

Click here to read my last Yankee Stadium post, which I wrote after the All Star Game.

Thanks for the memories!

Play Ball!

The New York Yankees are scheduled to play their final “Opening Day” game at the old Yankee’s Stadium this afternoon (although it’s being delayed by rain right now). Next year the team will play in their brand new stadium – currently being built next door.

Here are some of my fave Yankees this season.

Team Captain Derek Jeter

Melky Cabrera, showing his love for me by wearing my name on his head

"Big Daddy" Bobby Abreu

The Mets (yes, I like both NYC teams!) have their opening game next week...

In other baseball news, Preznit George W. Bush was booed when he threw out the first pitch of the Washington Nationals game. See the story from Towleroad here.

Daddy Of The Day - Derek Jeter

Derek Jeter is the shortstop (and team captain) for the New York Yankees. When he was a rookie in the mid 90's Derek used to come into Motown Cafe (where I worked). He is EXTREMELY handsome and friendly in person - and his perfect butt can be seen from very far away when he plays at Yankees Stadium (trust me on that).
