The New York Yankees played their very last game in “The House That Ruth Built” last night. It was an emotional night, and must admit I shed some tears at the end when team captain (and former Daddy of the Day) Derek Jeter thanked the fans. The Yankees will play across the street at the NEW Yankee Stadium next year.
Many former Yankees returned to take part in the farewell ceremony before the game – including Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, and Reggie Jackson. But perhaps the loudest cheers were for Puerto Rican Papi Bernie Williams, who retired in 2006. Bernie was my favorite Yankee – always laid back, adorable, and an excellent hitter.

Thanks for the memories!
