Happy Birthday to my former Harrisburg homegirl and my dear sister - the Mistress Maddie. I'm not gonna reveal how old Maddie is, but let's just say that she's definitely on the AARP's radar. Is all I'm saying...

Anywhore (emphasis on the last syllable), blogging will be light over the next couple days as Maddie and I hit the town in celebration. Tonight we'll be attending Lady Bunny's show at Escuelita - and then we'll cab it downtown to that bastion of "Modern Dance", The Urge. Gotta support the "local talent", dontcha know.

Tomorrow there will be hangovers to nurse and shopping to do (I took the day off work), so blogging may not return to normal until my liver does. Which could be a while...

Happy belated birthday to Dolores Conchita Figueroa del Rivero.  Dolores, better known as Chita Rivera, turned 77 yesterday.  Happy Birthday!

I had the pleasure of seeing Chita perform on Broadway in Kiss of the Spider Woman in the early 90's, and she was AMAZING.  It's one of those things I will never forget.

The Queen of Hip Hop Soul - Mary J. Blige - turns 39 today.  Happy Birthday MJB!!

Blige is one of those artists who just keeps getting better with age.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVES me some of her early stuff like "I'm Going Down" and "Not Gon' Cry" (Fave lyric: "I was your lover and your SEC-A-TAIRE" - FIERCE!).  But as Mary has matured, so has her music and her voice.

One of my favorite actors is celebrating a birthday today! Cute papi Jon Seda - native son of Puerto Rico, Manhattan and Clifton (New Jersey) - turns 39 years old. Happy Birthday Papi!

Seda, a former boxer, has appeared in tons of movies (he played JLo's husband in Selena) and television shows (Oz, Homicide: Life on the Street). But my all-time favorite Jon Seda performance will always be the role of "Chino Linares" in I Like It Like That.
