People of Walmart

The premise of the People of Walmart site is very simple - it shows pictures of assorted jacked-up people shopping at Walmart.

Now before you get all ignunt on my ass for hatin' on Walmart, let me just say that I am a Walmart shopper when I have the opportunity (there are no Walmarts in NYC). In fact, when I visit the family in PA I make multiple visits to the local Supercenter. After all, where else can you get $12 sneakers and a 2-liter bottle of "Diet Dr. Thunder" for 79 cents?!? And lots and lots of cat litter...

Check out People of Walmart HERE. And if you see my picture, please let me know.

My Favorite Things - Lovely Beverages

OMG - I just discovered Pepsi Max - which has no calories, no carbs, no sugar - and a buttload of caffeine. Perfect for a heavy night of blogging. Except for the fact that I tend to get a little chatty even though I usually blog by myself and I don't have anyone to chat with wow this is really good soda I wonder if I have any more if I don't I'll have to go to the store because I don't want to run out wait what was I doing again? ...

When I don't want the caffeine, there's always the Wal-Mart version of "Crystal Light". The good thing about it is that costs less than $2.00, as opposed to the MORE THAN 6 BUCKS Crystal Light can cost in Manhattan. And it comes in many delicious flavors (grape and cherry are my faves). Unfortunately I have to take a bus to Secaucus, NJ in order to visit Wal-Mart, as there are none in NYC ...

My favorite tea is Bigelow's Constant Comment, which I drink every morning. I hate coffee (yeah, I know that's weird) so I drink tea. This week I made the mistake of buying DECAF Constant Comment - so I've had to take a few swigs of Pepsi Max in the morning to wake me up! ...

And, of course, my favorite beverage of all - the nectar of the Gods - Bacardi Limon. Believe it or not, I've only had Bacardi Limon ONCE since DDBW {{said as single tear falls down my cheek}}. I miss you, Baby...

My Weekend

This weekend was supposed to be all about me cleaning my apartment and getting stuff done. It didn't go quite as expected.

On Friday I decided to shave my head (instead of spending $16.00 at the Barber). I've never done this before, and I mistakenly used the clipper attachment which gives you the shortest cut (I should have used the next one up). Now I look like I just entered Army Basic Training Camp - but I did manage to do a better job than Britney...

On Saturday I got called into work for an "emergency" which I had to handle. Afterwards, I decided to take a trip to lovely Secaucus, New Jersey - home to the nearest Walmart. Every year my dear Dad gives me a gift card to "The Walmart," which I save until I'm really broke. Well, I'm officially broke - so I got on the bus at the Port Authority Bus Terminal for some inter-state shopping.

There are no Walmarts in the five boroughs of NYC, because of the company's anti-union policies. Every time Walmart tries to build a store in NYC, the (pro-union) city-council shoots them down. Now I am as Progressive and pro-union as anyone, but I'm also poor, and would prefer to spend $2.29 for Lean Cuisine Cheese Ravioli - as opposed to $5.00 at the Food Emporium. But we'll save that for another blog post.

I returned to the bus station in Manhattan and walked the 10 blocks to my apartment (carrying 8 Walmart bags). Then I called Kayce - and we ended up talking for two hours. After hanging up with her, my throat felt really scratchy - which I thought was just from me yelling for two hours (I speak REALLY loudly). Now I think I've actually caught my roommate's cold - and I'm feeling crappy today. And I have basically gotten NO cleaning done.

Thank God I bought underwear at Walmart - otherwise I wouldn't have any clean man-panties for work tomorrow. I guess I'll have to do my cleaning/laundry during the week.

What did YOU do this weekend?

Wal-Mart

Yesterday, the best friend (Michael) and I took a trip to the closest Wal-Mart to NYC – located in lovely Secaucus, NJ. It is a short 10-minute bus ride from the Port Authority Bus Terminal – and only costs about $3.00 each way.

I LOVE Wal-Mart. I know some people have issues with their labor practices, but as long as I don’t think too hard about the 10-years-olds making my $16.00 sneakers, it doesn’t seem so bad. It’s like sausage – the end result is yummy, but you DON’T want to see what it takes to get it to your skillet.

(I just used the word “skillet” for the first time on DavidDust. For some reason “skillet” makes me laugh……I’m weird, sorry.)

ANYWAY, I can’t seem to get out of Wal-Mart without spending at least $100. Even when I go with a list, I still end up buying WAY more items than I planned on. It seems like EVERYTHING costs a measly $2.97 – but if you put enough items costing $2.97 in your cart, eventually you end up spending $108 – like I did yesterday.
