I'm Back

Oh it's been nothing but sunshine and unicorns over hear at DustBunny Headquarters. Yesterday, after fighting a fever, the chills and a lack of breath - I finally went to my Doctor and he confirmed what I thought was true. I have Pneumonia - this time of the "walking" variety.

Doc came "this" close to admitting me into the hospital, but I begged, pleaded, stomped my feet, and promised to eat more leafy greens if he'd let me give the "take antibiotics at home/bedrest" thing a try. Luckily, he agreed. I think the leafy greens are what sealed the deal.

The last thing I need is another stint in the hospital. It's bad enough that I don't get paid sick days, so if I have to stay home from work, I'm gonna watch the History Channel, read blogs and order Chinese Food in my own damn apartment.

BTW - do they make Chinese Food with leafy greens?...

Sick

Sorry for the lack of postings, but I've been sick as a dog. As soon as I feel better we'll get back to the shenanigans.

The National Puerto Rican Day Parade

Today is the magical day when Manhattan fills with the unimaginable hotness that is the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade.  Unfortunately I'm not able to enjoy the sights, because my chest/lungs aren't cooperating.  You KNOW it's serious if I'm missing my favorite holiday of the year!

In fact, I'll be calling the doctor tomorrow morning for an earlier appointment (I'm currently scheduled for Wednesday AM).  Because, after all, the ability to breath/move IS pretty important.

Thank You

Thanks to everybody who left me "feel better" well-wishes over the past 24 hours.  I apologize for the sentimental, sappy and Hallmark-esque "Thank You" message at the top of this post, but nothing says "friendship" and "thank you" like keeping hair out of puke.  You know I'd do the same for all of you.

I feel a tiny bit better today.  I slept for 10 1/2 hours last night - and plan on doing the same thing tonight - so posting will still be light over the next day or so.

One sure-fire way to tell when I'm sick is that my appetite disappears.  On a normal day I'm hungry all the time - morning, noon and night.  I'm hungry when I'm happy, sad, nervous, or angry.  I can eat when I'm busy, or when I'm being lazy at home.  I can eat anywhere or anytime - that's just how I roll.

But when I'm sick, I don't even want to look at food (not even Arby's!).  And today was the first time I've been hungry in a few days - which is a good sign.

Calling In Sick...

For the past few weeks I have gotten sicker and sicker - finally getting to the point where I couldn't walk up 4 steps without completely losing my breath.  It got so bad that I actually went to my Doctor this morning (you know how doctorphobic I am), and he thinks I have an Upper Respiratory Infection (just like last year).  He gave me Cipro and some kind of inhaler and told be to come back in a week.

But after packing, moving, and trying to get situated at my new place, I'm EXHAUSTED and going to bed.  If I feel better I'll do some posts tomorrow afternoon.

XOXOXOXO

Sick, Tired and Unorganized

I have been sick as a dog for the past week, which is really preventing me from getting myself together so I can move this weekend.  It was so bad yesterday that I left work at noon, came home and slept all day and night.

The ONE interesting thing about me being sick has been the BIZARRE dreams I've been having.  I don't know what they put in CVS cold medicine, but it's trippy...

I recommend it highly.

Here is my plan:  finish packing tonight/all day Friday (taking day off)/all day Saturday.  And then on Sunday I'll try to find a "Man with a Van" to help me move my crap to Queens.

This means that you won't be hearing from me for a few days.  Hopefully the next time I post, I'll be a resident of Astoria, Queens.

Oh Ciprofloxacin, How I Love Thee

Wow - Cipro is NO JOKE. After just 5 doses (out of 14) of the antibiotic, I am feeling 90% better, and the green gunkies have left the building.

I am back at work today, after a day spent on the couch with Dusty Winehouse. I just wish I could spend every day watching Maury, sipping tea, and playing with the cats. Even sick, it beats the hell outta working...

Sick In Bed

I took the day off work today and am sick in bed. If you'd like a visual, I look EXACTLY like the picture above. Don't I look HORRIBLE?!?

Anywhore, the doctor gave me an antibiotic to knock the green gunk out of my system ... I just hope it starts working soon.

So, again, posting will be light today (and maybe tomorrow), until I can get my act together.

XOXOXOXOXO

I have a really bad cold - so posting will be light until I get the green gunk out of me and start feeling better.

My Weekend

This weekend was supposed to be all about me cleaning my apartment and getting stuff done. It didn't go quite as expected.

On Friday I decided to shave my head (instead of spending $16.00 at the Barber). I've never done this before, and I mistakenly used the clipper attachment which gives you the shortest cut (I should have used the next one up). Now I look like I just entered Army Basic Training Camp - but I did manage to do a better job than Britney...

On Saturday I got called into work for an "emergency" which I had to handle. Afterwards, I decided to take a trip to lovely Secaucus, New Jersey - home to the nearest Walmart. Every year my dear Dad gives me a gift card to "The Walmart," which I save until I'm really broke. Well, I'm officially broke - so I got on the bus at the Port Authority Bus Terminal for some inter-state shopping.

There are no Walmarts in the five boroughs of NYC, because of the company's anti-union policies. Every time Walmart tries to build a store in NYC, the (pro-union) city-council shoots them down. Now I am as Progressive and pro-union as anyone, but I'm also poor, and would prefer to spend $2.29 for Lean Cuisine Cheese Ravioli - as opposed to $5.00 at the Food Emporium. But we'll save that for another blog post.

I returned to the bus station in Manhattan and walked the 10 blocks to my apartment (carrying 8 Walmart bags). Then I called Kayce - and we ended up talking for two hours. After hanging up with her, my throat felt really scratchy - which I thought was just from me yelling for two hours (I speak REALLY loudly). Now I think I've actually caught my roommate's cold - and I'm feeling crappy today. And I have basically gotten NO cleaning done.

Thank God I bought underwear at Walmart - otherwise I wouldn't have any clean man-panties for work tomorrow. I guess I'll have to do my cleaning/laundry during the week.

What did YOU do this weekend?
