Coconut water is the clear liquid inside young coconuts (fruits of the coconut palm). As the fruit matures, the coconut water gradually is replaced by the coconut meat and air. A very young coconut has very little meat, and the meat is very tender, almost a gel. Coconut water has long been a popular drink in the tropics. 

In Brazil, coconut water is called "água de coco," and is the second best-selling juice after orange juice. Coconut water can also be found in ordinary cans or tetra paks and is also marketed as a sports drink because of its high potassium and mineral content. In fact, one cup-full of coconut water contains more electrolytes than most sports drinks and more potassium than a banana. It is naturally fat-free and low in food energy (16.7 calories). 

Coconuts from various parts of the world differ in taste. For example, Indian and Pakistani coconuts tend to be sweet while Brazilian coconuts have a mild taste and Bangladeshi coconuts (due to the soil composition) have extremely sweet water and flesh with a slight salty aftertaste.

Now this is my kind of man! Back in the day we called this "two-fisted drinking" - not that I ever did it MYSELF mind you.  But, let's face it, you have two hands - might as well use them both to hold cocktails.  Especially when you are extremely thirsty and the drinks are tiny.

Really, one should think of this as "overachieving" or "multi-tasking" while at the bar.  As Martha would say ... "It's a good thing!".

The subway was a lot less crowded than usual today - I guess a lot of people are taking vacation during this last week before Labor Day.  Folks need to wear their summer white outfits one more time before putting them away for the fall/winter...

I don't have much on the agenda this week, but on Friday night I'll be headed to the Urge Lounge (AKA "The Urges" - below) for a belated birfday celebration....

If anyone would like to see their favorite Blogger (that would be ME, right???) in a state of utter stupidity while he drunkenly molests the "talent", then head over to The Urges at about 11:30 pm this Friday night...

I'm Getting A Visitor!

Yes BunnyNation, after two failed attempts (one thwarted by a hurricane and the other by a busy schedule) I finally get the opportunity to hang out with Dust Bunny Dan from Chicago!!  Dan is in NYC on business, and has decided to extend his stay over the weekend for some boozing and go-go fondling with little 'ole ME!

As a result, posting will be extremely light over the weekend because I will be drunk.  The plan is for me to finish my Project Runway recap tomorrow afternoon, pick Dan up, have some drinks, and end up at The Urge Lounge (AKA "The Urges") for the nightly "show"...

After all, Dan and I are both big supporters of "the arts" and we plan on doing WHATEVER WE CAN to help these "artists" ...

Wanna Hang With Some Dust Bunnies?

The next Drunken Dust Bunny Weekend is less than a week away, and if you are in the NYC area you should consider hanging out with us. This gathering will be a much more intimate affair, as many of the attendees from the first DDBW cannot make it this time. But some hardcore Bunnies will be representing, and you should plan on joining us.

Here is the schedule. Friday night (10/23) - Urge Lounge (AKA "The Urges") - 11 pm...

Urge is a TON of fun - with nice bartenders and a bunch of sexy go-go guys dancing on the bar. There is no cover to get in (bring I.D.) - just the cost of drinks and tips for the dancing beauties.

Urge is located in the East Village at 32 2nd Avenue (between 1st and 2nd Streets).

Saturday night (10/24). Pre-festivities private party (email me for details) - followed by the legendary Escuelita club at midnight.

Escuelita has been in Times Square forever - and the Latin papis and drag queen mamis still flock to this club. There is always SOMETHING going on, and the drag show is always a lot of fun...

Escuelita is located at 301 W. 39th Street (off of 8th Avenue)

Southern Decadence In New Orleans

It's Southern Decadence weekend in New Orleans, and I am so sad I'm not there. When I had a little more money I used to travel to the French Quarter every year to enjoy the festivities. Activities included drinking, stalking go-go boys, drinking, falling over (seriously), drinking, slot machines at Harrah's, and more drinking. It was heaven. Oh, and apparently there's a parade but it happens during the day and I usually wasn't able to leave my hotel room until after sundown. The freaks come out at night, dontcha know.

Two lucky Dust Bunnies are representing the great BunnyNation in New Orleans this year - Ginger (above left) and Dan (right). Aren't they cute! I am so jealous I am not there. And I'm even more jealous that they've built an Arby's right on Canal Street - which of course Ginger had to remind me...


Evil! In other (random) New Orleans news, three architectural firms have put together a proposal for a floating, hurricane-proof "city-within-a-pyramid" called NOAH - New Orleans Arcology Habitat.


It would be built on the Mississippi River and would contain residences, commercial space, a school, a hospital, and three casinos! And, I'm assuming, at least one gay bar.
