I'm Getting A Visitor!

Yes BunnyNation, after two failed attempts (one thwarted by a hurricane and the other by a busy schedule) I finally get the opportunity to hang out with Dust Bunny Dan from Chicago!!  Dan is in NYC on business, and has decided to extend his stay over the weekend for some boozing and go-go fondling with little 'ole ME!

As a result, posting will be extremely light over the weekend because I will be drunk.  The plan is for me to finish my Project Runway recap tomorrow afternoon, pick Dan up, have some drinks, and end up at The Urge Lounge (AKA "The Urges") for the nightly "show"...

After all, Dan and I are both big supporters of "the arts" and we plan on doing WHATEVER WE CAN to help these "artists" ...

Two Dans Will March On Washington

Lt. Dan Choi - one of the thousands of victims of Don't Ask, Don't Tell - lends his support to the National Equality March (held on October 10/11 in Washington D.C.):

"I disagree with the notion that making the trek to DC will take away from our other efforts. In fact, it will focus and re-energize the work we will do when we get home. 2009 can be a milestone, a tipping point. This is the year when we step up to our full citizenship as Americans: marrying and raising families, serving in our military. Join us in Washington on October 11 to tell the whole nation."

There is another person named "Dan" who was an early, and vocal, supporter of the March - and that is today's birthday boy - our good friend from Chicago, DAN ...

In honor of his birthday, Dan is now the "Featured Dust Bunny Blogger" on DavidDust. Happy Birthday Honey!!

It Should Be REAR Admiral...

Dust Bunny Bob featured a link to The Hero Factory today on his blog - where he magically became superhero The Fancy Four-Eyed Angel. Then Dust Bunny Dan became The Strange Masked Angel. So I figured I had to be a superhero also.

So I jumped into a phone booth (do they have phone booths anymore?) and magically became Admiral Gifted Knight. But I think they meant REAR Admiral Gifted Knight...

What superhero are you??

Bacon Explosion + THE HAT = Perfection

Dust Bunny Dan just blogged about The Bacon Explosion - and said he might actually try to make one over the weekend. If so, we want a full report!

But then Joe.My.God. posted a picture of The Bacon Explosion wearing THE HAT, and I almost spit my Diet Dr. Pepper onto my computer monitor. Perfection.

From The Mailbag...

Happy Birthday to Kayce AKA Chef the City. Her birthday was Sunday – and yesterday’s Ryan Lochte post was in honor of her - even if she DID email me the details of her recent meal at ARBY'S! Taunting me like that is just mean... :)

Speaking of birthdays, still no word from yesterday’s birthday boy Dan. His good friend Jimbo was supposed to keep us informed, and yet we get NOTHING. Thanks a lot guys… :) Anywhoo – I hope Dan is having fun, wherever he is.

My darling Jennie is close to 500 posts at her blog: Preteens, Toddlers, and Newborns OH MY! In honor of this milestone, she’s giving away tons of free crap (well, not really CRAP – good stuff!). So go visit her blog, make a comment, tell her how funny and fierce she is, and maybe you’ll get some crap, er… NAIL POLISH.

Top Design (Bravo’s answer to HGTV’s Design Star) will take the Top Haircut/Shear Genius spot on Wednesday’s at 10:00 pm after the Shear Genius finale. Our darling friend Laura K sent us over a preview of one of the hot designtestants – Preston Lee. Thanks Laura!!

Speaking of Shear Genius (and Laura K) – I will be sharing some exiting news with you all very soon - STAY TUNED!

And speaking of Design StarMikey V sat down with AfterElton after he spoke to us. It seems that Mikey and HGTV still aren’t seeing eye-to-eye - read it here.

If you have anything you'd like to share, send me an email at daviddust@gmail.com.

XOXOXO

Happy Birthday Dan!

Dust Bunny Dan turns 40 today, ya'll!! However, he may not be in his hometown of Chicago to celebrate - Dan's friend (and fellow blogger) Jimbo has been chronicling Dan's birthday adventure thus far (check out Jimbo's blog here). Dan's friends (and husband Luis) have been planning all kinds of things for the Birthday Boy - and there were reports of some kind of trip... So check Jimbo's blog for updates of Drunken Dan's whereabouts.

Wherever you are BIATCH, please remember that you don't have to drink EVERYTHING... 30 or 40 drinks should be sufficient at one sitting. And I CANNOT WAIT to see you in LESS THAN TWO WEEKS in New Orleans!

I love ya Girl!

XOXOXOXOXO

Friendship

Empress Dust Bunny Beth posted some thoughts the other day about “blog friends”. She had just returned from an out-of-state trip to see her daughter, and was able to see two of her blogger buddies who lived nearby. Beth talked about how her husband (and others) can’t understand how “blog friends” can actually be “real” friends.

Beth believes, as I do, that blog friend and real friends are one in the same. I connect with many of you WAY more than I talk to/email/etc. my longtime friends. I know more about many of your kids (Beth, Zombie Mom, Jennie) than I do about my dear friend’s newborn daughter. I have recently discussed NYC with Charlie, self-image with SailorAlphaCentauri, and EVERYTHING with my Darling Joy (AKA Dancing Flame). I consider all of them “friends” in one way or another.

I say all this because there is one person who in a few months has become a true friend to me – Dan. I have been depressed recently, and when I get depressed my weight and self-esteem issues seem to rear their ugly heads. Dan always seems to be able to talk me down and make me feel better – which is what true friends do.

I first came across Dan’s blog while trolling for fellow Top Chef fans. But when I read one of his posts about his love of fast food, I knew this was one fierce bitch. There are VERY few gay men out there who would admit to even walking into a McDonald’s to use the restroom, let alone talk about EATING there.

And when we figured out we are both going to New Orleans for Southern Decadence – I was SO excited. I now have someone who can tell me what in the HELL I did the night before. In years past, I would have to piece my night together, CSI-style, by reading the various bruises, stains, and bar stamps/wristbands on my body.

And besides, what’s not to love about a queen who loves Spam (the canned meat, not the email) and hates Oprah?

I love ya BIATCH! Thanks for putting up with all of my crazy.

And that goes for the rest of my Dust Bunny friends as well…
XOXOXOXO

New Orleans Prepares For Hurricanes David and Dan

Yes bitches, I found out last week that Dust Bunny Dan and I will BOTH be in New Orleans for Southern Decadence over Labor Day weekend (see an earlier post here). Furthermore, we will be staying basically 1 1/2 blocks away from each other (see the French Quarter map I doctored up, below). For me, that's just a quick one-minute stumble down Bourbon and St. Louis Streets.

This could get very, VERY ugly...

And BTW, do you remember the controversy about former McCain endorser Reverend "The Catholic Church is the Great Whore" Hagee? Remember how he said that Hurricane Katrina was God's wrath on New Orleans because they were planning a "Gay Pride parade"? Well, New Orleans wasn't planning a Gay Pride parade per se, but they WERE planning Southern Decadence. I have to say, Decadence IS pretty DECADENT (you have to see it to believe it) - but I think God has/had better things to do than to intervene on behalf of crazy fundamentalist gay-haters.
