Hunky Jesus - Rick Gonzalez

Those of you who check out my blog regularly will find this as no surprise. But my absolute first thought while watching Lady Gaga's video for Judas was "Guuuurrrrrrlll - who is Hot Papi Jeebus?????

After a quick check of the innerwebz, I learned that our Lord and Savior is played by actor Rick Gonzalez. Gonzalez - who is of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent - was born and raised in NYC, where he attended the High School of the Performing Arts (better known at the Fame school). Rick is perhaps best known for his roles as Timo Cruz in the motion picture Coach Carter, and as Ben Gonzalez on the CW television series Reaper.

Now THIS is a Jesus (or is it "Hay ZEUS"?) who could convince me to attend church.

Yes You CAN Hold It Against Me ...

A group of Marines in Afghanistan WERK Britney Spear's Hold It Against Me in this viral video. A couple of thoughts:
  • There are some extremely gorgeous people in this video - including the women. Actually, ESPECIALLY the women. The female Marine at the 1:20 mark could hold it against me any time she wanted. SRSLY.
  • The military should hire whoever put this together and place them in charge of recruitment videos. These brave kids make the war in Afghanistan look fun - not an easy task.
  • Britney should hire the entire cast to do EVERY video for EVERY song she ever releases. FOREVER.
  • Britney has seen the video, btw, and loves it.
  • Lastly - did I mention HOT, BRAVE MARINES?!?

Sahara Davenport - "Pump With Me"

Former RuPaul's Drag Racer Sahara Davenport has come out with a catchy little club tune called Pump With Me - and I'm kind of digging it. See if you can spot a couple of quick appearances by current Drag Racer (and Sahara's boyfriend) Manila Luzon in boy drag:

Afternoon Scissor Sisters Break - Take Your Mama

Gonna take your mama out all night
Yeah we'll show her what it's all about
We'll get her jacked up on some cheap champagne
We'll let the good times all roll out
And if the music ain't good, well it's just too bad
We're gonna sing along no matter what
Because the dancers don't mind at the New Orleans
If you tip 'em and they make a cut

These Are Days - 10,000 Maniacs

I don't know about you, but I could use some Natalie Merchant and 10,000 Maniacs in my life today - so here is These Are Days:

Afternoon Annie Lennox Break - A Thousand Beautiful Things

Annie Lennox's voice is certainly a beautiful thing - and it's showcased wonderfully in this acoustic version of A Thousand Beautiful Things from her Bare CD.

Here I go again
Singin' by your window
Pickin' up the pieces of what's left to find

Afternoon Cher Break - Dark Lady

I've always loved Cher's early "story" songs - Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves, Half-Breed and especially Dark Lady. Check out this cute cartoon music video of Dark Lady from the old Sonny & Cher show back in the day:

"Bah, humbug!" No, that's too strong
'Cause it is my favorite holiday

Don't think I have the energy

Afternoon Celebration - I Am What I Am

It's during times like these in the history of the LGBT movement when you gotta bring out the big guns [necessary and deliberate military pun]. And one of the biggest guns in the LGBT songbook arsenal is this version of I Am What I Am, sung by Gloria Gaynor - which is so appropriate today

Hit it, Gloria ...

Afternoon Erasure Break - Sometimes

Today Joe.My.God linked to a short story he wrote back in 2005 about his late friend and their shared obsession with Erasure (read it HERE). This touching story reminded me of yet another favorite Erasure song - Sometimes - which I dedicate to Joe's friend Barney ...

80's Flashback - Yo Little Brother

Does ANYONE else remember this song?!?  It was such a catchy little number (with a cute Freestyle beat) and the video was/is UBER-80's with references to Prince, Ric Ocasek, Bruce Springsteen and Cyndi Lauper...

Tin Roof ... Rusted

I remember being SO pleased when I finally learned from a college "acquaintance" {{{cough, cough}}} that the lyric at the end was "Tin Roof ... Rusted".  For months prior to his revelation, I had no idea WHAT Cindy Wilson was yelling.

Look for the RuPaul cameo in the video, which was filmed before anyone knew who RuPaul was ...

Cazwell - Ice Cream Truck

Cazwell's video for Ice Cream Truck features some of the most popular "modern dancers" in NYC - including Geronimo (above), whom I've FEATURED quite a bit.
