RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars

While many (if not most) of you did the "good citizen" thing last night and watched the Presidential Debate, I watched RPDR All Stars instead. I iz a BAD citizen!

The All Stars talent level is high (with a few notable ...cough Tammie Brown cough cough ... exceptions - and RuPaul even threw in a twist or two to make things interesting.

Did ya'll watch the RuPaul's Drag Race Reunion/Award Ceremony/Comedy Hour?? I thought it was cute...

• I think, besides Sharon Needles, the true winner of this season was Latrice Royale. She is a star. Loved the standing ovations for her, and loved that she won "Miss Congeniality".
• The production number at the beginning was an interesting was to "re-introduce" the dragtestants to us. The entire thing was made 1000% better due to Sharon Needles "Frosty Mug-O-Beer" dress.
• Willam got kicked off the show because of some "Boom Boom Boom Let's Go Back To My Room"?? I was hoping for something a little more scandalous - and I'm not going to RuPaulogize for that.
• I think I've said this before, but Charo needs to be on every show, on every network, forever.

The information has since been removed from the page and, though it confirms rumors we’ve been hearing since before the season debuted, we really hope its not true.

About Last Night's RuPaul's Drag Race...

Random thoughts:

• I thought the premise behind last night's episode of RuPaul's Drag Race was hysterical - turn a group of straight dads into pregnant drag queens. Who thinks of these things?
• What was the purpose of bringing back Kenya Michaels? It was just so random and unnecessary.
• Sharon's dad was a bit strange - but of all people, you would think that Sharon would be able to handle a weirdo.
• Kenya's guy was HOT, but he was obviously not into it. Phi Phi's guy, on the other hand, was also hot - but REALLY into it.
• I thought all the straight guys - in general - were such good sports and they came across as really great, open-minded men. We need more guys like them in today's world.
• Chad's dad ended up being really pretty.
• Why didn't they let the straight dad's hang out with Jennifer Love Hewitt back in the Interior Illusions Lounge? It's the least they could have done.
• Why does Michelle Visage always have something negative to say about Chad?
• And, finally, we get to the lip sync for your life. Latrice might just be the best lip sync-er in the history of the show. Furthermore, it was an ARETHA song, so you just knew Latrice would hit it out of the park. Kenya, on the other hand, flailed around like an extremely fishy fish out of water.

What in the hell did Willam do to get herself kicked off the show???? I kept waiting for an explanation during "Untucked", but no reason was ever given.

RuPaul's Drag Race To Get "All Star" Spinoff

LOGO announced today that they will air All Stars: RuPaul’s Drag Race this fall. The cast won't be announced for a few months, but one spot will be chosen by the fans (via Facebook).

Who would YOU like to see return for All Stars? I'd love to see comedy queen Pandora Boxx (above); and you just know that Shangela Laquifa Wadley (below) will be back. Halleloo??

RuPaul's Drag Race - Season 4, Ep. 1: What Did You Think?

Did anyone watch RuPaul's Drag Race last night? I am still laughing at some of the hijinks that went down during the "Rupocalypse"...

• Drag Queens + spinning on a turntable + being squirted with "toxic waste" = TELEVISION GOLD

• Willam (above, left) needs to get over herself. First of all, her manly face resembles Miss Vida Boheme (below) in To Wong Fu ...and that's not a good thing.

• Secondly, the talk of Willam being an "actor" and not a drag queen was annoying. Why be on a drag competition then? I loved it when one of the other queens asked her that same question and Willam couldn't answer.
• Kenya Michaels pronounced "island" as "ICE lan". God bless her.
• My favorite queen? Miss Latrice Royale. If Andre Leon Tally had a rap sheet and decided to do drag, she would become Miss Latrice. Oh the SHADE of it all...

• They pulled a cute stunt making us think that Shangela was coming back.
• Sharon Needles really creeps me out. But even creepier was The Princess hitting on her. Gross
• Favorite line of the night: RuPaul (discussing Jiggly Caliente's runway "look") - "Hoarding is the new black".

Musto "Interviews" Dragtestant Carmen Carrera

Michael Musto was contacted by RuPaul's Drag Race competitor Carmen Carrera's "people" (person?) for an interview. But the young Ms. Carrera didn't bother to answer Michael's questions - so Musto answered them himself. Here's an excerpt:

Musto: You've said that you wouldn't date someone who does drag because of the drama involved. But you're someone who does drag. Should people not date you? 

Carmen: You mean like when they date the milk at Dagostinos? (pause) 

Musto: Never mind, dear. Good luck on Drag Race. 

Carmen: Don't you play the race card with me, you shady biatch!

Television Chatter

So I got managed to see some of The Fashion Show last night - and was happy to see Jeffrey win. Didn't see Calvin's collection, but the looks they showed at the end of the episode had me worried that Madame Chiang Kai-BLECK might just win. But Jeffrey managed to create The Ultimate Collection - and the others (including Calvin?!?!!) seemed truly happy for him.

I also managed to catch most of the first episode of RuPaul's Drag Race online. JEEBUS - that show is truly fantabulastical in every way:

And, finally, I tuned into some of the President's State of the Union address last night. It seems that President Obama is getting high marks for his words, however Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg rated it a big "ZZZZZZZZ"

RuPaul Andre Charles was born 50 years ago today - a big Happy Birthday to the Supermodel of the World.

Speaking of RuPaul, I keep getting the press releases for the upcoming season of RuPaul's Drag Race - and it makes me so sad that we don't have LOGO at my new apartment. And YES, I realize they post the show on their website the next day, but it just isn't the same. I have a "thing" about watching TV as it is broadcast - one of the reasons I never learned how to use the DVR. I also don't like chocolate or coffee ... I am a freak of nature - ask any Christian Fundmentallyredardedlist.

Congratulations to Tyra Sanchez for winning Season 2 of RuPaul's Drag Race last night.  I thought Raven would win, but based on what we saw during the finale it's hard to disagree with the judge's decision.

Yes, I am allowing my meager social life to interfere with my blogging responsibilities.  Tonight I will be meeting one of my oldest and dearest friends - Miss Agnes Gooch (AKA Dennis) - who is in NYC on a business trip.  We are going to have some cocktails and catch up, so I won't be watching/recapping RuPaul's Drag Race this evening.

Reality Show Celebrity Sighting - Bebe Zahara Benet

On my way home from work last night (yes, I walked again), I spotted RuPaul's Drag Race Season One winner Bebe Zahara Benet.  She was with a male companion and was exiting a building on 8th Avenue in the Garment District.

Bebe wasn't really in full drag - but she was rocking a somewhat androgynous (yet casual) look in denim jeans and a short jacket.  Miss Zahara Benet is quite stunning in person , I might add.
