Franky G Will Bring Us Good Luck
Bitches - I'm bringing out the big guns for Obama today! Franky G is my absolute favorite papi in the world (spotting him on the street was one of the biggest days of my life). In fact, do a Google image search of "Franky G" and see how many DavidDust entries you find. Seriously - it's hysterical.
Anywhoo - I'm posting some of the best pics of Franky G today for good luck. Give him a little rub before you go out and vote.
Franky G would never let us down...

109-Year-Old Daughter Of Slaves Votes For Obama

An uplifting story from the Austin (TX) American-Statesman:
Amanda Jones, 109, the daughter of a man born into slavery, has lived a life long enough to touch three centuries. And after voting consistently as a Democrat for 70 years, she has voted early for the country's first black presidential nominee, voting by mail. The middle child of 13, Jones, who is African American, is part of a family that has lived in Bastrop County (TX) for five generations. The family has remained a fixture in Cedar Creek and other parts of the county, even when its members had to eat at segregated barbecue dives and walk through the back door while white customers walked through the front, said Amanda Jones' 68-year-old daughter, Joyce Jones...
Amanda Jones says she cast her first presidential vote for Franklin Roosevelt, but she doesn't recall which of his four terms that was. When she did vote, she paid a poll tax, her daughters said. That she is able, for the first time, to vote for a black presidential nominee for free fills her with joy, Jones said.

Barack Obama's Infomercial

I watched the Barack Obama infomercial tonight, and I was extremely impressed. The differences between Obama and Ron Popeil John McCain are so obvious.
Did anyone else watch? What did you think?
Now where in the hell did I put that Salad Spinner??...

See Ya In Hell, Bitches!!

This right-wing lunatic has told her followers if they vote for Obama they are disobeying God and will go to Hell. Seriously.
To all those who name the name of Christ who plan to willfully disobey Him by voting for Obama, take warning. Not only is our nation in grave danger, according to the Word of God, so are you ... [T]his election is not about race. It's not about the economy. It's about obeying God.

We Might Just Win This
In my pre-election mania, one of the sites I check daily is Electoral-Vote.Com. According to them, this is where the electoral map stood as of yesterday (Sunday):
And this is what the map looked like on the very same day before the 2004 election:
And here is how the 2004 election turned out:
As much as I don't want to jinx our chances, I like the way this is looking. But this doesn't mean we can let up. Give as much as you can during these final days - either money or time - so we can change the direction of this nation. If you haven't already, you can always join the Dust Bunnies For Obama by making a small donation HERE.

We have just 21 days to go until Election Day, and my nerves are frazzled. I am completely obsessed and stalk every news story and blog post that comes out regarding election developments. Through my Google Reader, I subscribe to DailyKos, AmericaBlog, and MyDD and read their posts throughout the day. I also check Electoral-Vote.Com (pretty maps) and Pollster.Com (more pretty maps) every morning.
Today I read that the Republican National Committee (the only wing of the Republican party with any real money) has almost given up on McCain winning, and instead is considering spending their time/money toward retaining a 41-seat minority in the Senate (read HERE). This is the same strategy they used in 1996 when it became apparent that Bob Dole would lose to Bill Clinton. Remember, if Democrats get 60 seats in the Senate – they become filibuster-proof and it becomes nearly impossible for the Republican minority to obstruct legislation. Consider donating to MyDD “Road to 60” fund HERE to help Democrats get this majority.
I have my own strategy for winning Senate seats. Sometime during the 2006 campaign, I donated $50 online to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC). At the time, Republicans controlled both houses of Congress, and the Democrats were trying to reduce their majorities in both houses of Congress. No one expected the Democrats would actually take a majority in the Senate that year – but they did. I consider my $50 donation to be what finally got them over the top. You're welcome.
A few months after the election, I got a call from a company that conducts focus groups for various clients. One of their clients was the DSCC. I agreed to participate, and about 20 people who had donated that year sat around a conference table and shared our thoughts about the upcoming 2008 elections. We discussed candidates, issues, and shared our thoughts on various types of fundraising mailers – all the while being watched by people behind a two-way mirror. It was interesting and kind of fun.
When the focus group was over, we received our compensation for participating - $110 cash!! So for my $50 donation, I got $110 back - Cha-ching!!!
So since I am extremely superstitious, I will be sending another $50 to the DSCC. And if the Democrats win a 60-seat majority next month, you can all thank ME.

John McCain's Keating Five Scandal

Cranky Cracker John McCain is desperate to change the subject away from the tanking American economy during these last 29 days before the election. So the McCain campaign has decided to try and paint Barack Obama as a shady character with shady associates. Ooooohhhh … he’s a scary black guy with scary black friends!!!
But John McCain has his own shady associations – and the biggest of them all has been Charles Keating, former chairman of Lincoln Savings and Loan. John McCain was a member of the infamous “Keating Five”.
From Wikipedia:
The Obama campaign has produced a 13-minute video which explains the Keating Five scandal, and John McCain’s involvement in it. Please pass it along to people who might still be considering to vote for John McCain.
But John McCain has his own shady associations – and the biggest of them all has been Charles Keating, former chairman of Lincoln Savings and Loan. John McCain was a member of the infamous “Keating Five”.
From Wikipedia:
The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. The five senators, Alan Cranston (D-CA), Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ), John Glenn (D-OH), John McCain (R-AZ), and Donald W. Riegle (D-MI), were accused of improperly intervening in 1987 on behalf of Charles H. Keating, Jr., chairman of the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which was the target of a regulatory investigation by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLBB). The FHLBB subsequently backed off taking action against Lincoln.
Lincoln Savings and Loan collapsed in 1989, at a cost of $2 billion to the federal government. Some 23,000 Lincoln bondholders were defrauded and many elderly investors lost their life savings. The substantial political contributions that Keating had made to each of the senators, totaling $1.3 million, attracted considerable public and media attention. After a lengthy investigation, the Senate Ethics Committee determined in 1991 that Alan Cranston, Dennis DeConcini, and Donald Riegle had substantially and improperly interfered with the FHLBB in its investigation of Lincoln Savings, with Cranston receiving a formal reprimand. Senators John Glenn and John McCain were cleared of having acted improperly but were criticized for having exercised "poor judgment".

We cannot afford four more years of the same.
