GOP Corndog Watch - Day 28
JMG (where I snagged this pic) asked a very pertinent question yesterday:
"What IS it with the GOP and corndogs?"

Republican Shenanigans In Wisconsin
After weeks of saying that union-busting was part of an "urgent" budget issue - Wisconsin Republicans took all that "urgent" budget/monetary stuff out of the bill. This, they said, allowed them to vote without any Democrats present - and that's what they did - all of a sudden - last night. Please watch this video from Rachel Maddow - she explains what happened:
Then go to Daily Kos (HERE) and find out what you can do to help correct this injustice. They are raising money for the Wisconsin Democratic Party's effort to recall Republican Senators. They also explain the upcoming Wisconsin Supreme Court election which will determine the makeup of the court - a court which will determine the legality (or lack thereof) of this end run around democracy. Please READ IT and do what you can.

Insanity or Crystal Meth? You decide. From Gawker:
Stark County, Ohio's GOP picked its nominee for treasurer last night! You knew that, sure, but here's the meeting's highlight anyway: terrifying candidate Phil Davidson screaming, pacing, and half-crying in the most insane stump speech ever. He lost! ...

Even BEDBUGS Hate Republicans
According to a New York Daily News survey, 12% of NYC's Democrats have had bedbugs, vs. only 2% of Republicans. Yes, in New York City even the Bedbugs are Democrats. YES WE CAN ... infest your mattresses and bite you at night.
However I'm convinced that the Pigeons are mostly Republican - just waiting to take a big crap on the common man ...

Ben Stein: Unemployed Have "Poor Personalities"
Ben Stein is an idiotic right-wing douchenozzle. Here is what he had to say about people who are currently unemployed (via Joe.My.God):
"The people who have been laid off and cannot find work are generally people with poor work habits and poor personalities. I say “generally” because there are exceptions. But in general, as I survey the ranks of those who are unemployed, I see people who have overbearing and unpleasant personalities and/or who do not know how to do a day’s work. They are people who create either little utility or negative utility on the job".
Hey Benny - can we see the actual results of the personal "survey" you personally did?!? Did you personally travel across the country personally speaking to the unemployed?? Or are you just making assumptions based on your racist, classist conservative Republican IDIOTology ideology????
If people with "overbearing and unpleasant personalities" were the only ones unemployed, then your ass would have NEVER gotten a job.

The Republicans Are Not On Your Side
I don't normally like to copy and paste entire blog posts from other blogs - but this Daily Kos post by Laurence Lewis is only 3 paragraphs long and should be read by EVERYONE. Furthermore, Democrats need to be shouting "Republicans are not on your side!" from the highest hilltops, until it becomes accepted fact. Because it IS a fact...
The message is simple and easy, because it happens to be true. On issue after issue, the Republicans prove that they don't care about people, they only care about their corporate owners. Last week, they blocked an extension of unemployment benefits. This week, they killed it. They also ensured a pay cut to doctors who accept Medicare patients, ensuring that fewer doctors will, and that those on Medicare will have more trouble finding medical care. But while they've been busy hurting people, they've also been busy helping corporations
With the BP oil gusher destroying the Gulf of Mexico, Republicans are having to pretend not to bedefending BP. Meanwhile, they're criticizing President Obama for trying to protect people from BP. It's always the same. They protected the banks from financial regulation. They protected the health insurance industry from real health care reform. They killed cramdown, which would have protected homeowners from losing their homes. The list goes on and on. Issue after issue. Year after year.
When have the Republicans supported legislation that helps people at the expense of corporate special interests? When have they proposed such legislation, on their own? Don't hurt yourself trying to find examples. They're rhetorical questions.
Please go to the post HERE, where Laurence Lewis has all the links to back up his main points. Important stuff.

No, Maddie Wants This Dude To Put Her Down
I've been watching the healthcare debate on CSPAN today, and it just kills me that the Republicans have no problem with reciting false talking points on the floor of the United States House of Representatives.
But Republican shamelessness really became apparent when Rep. John Shadegg (R-Babysnatchersville) grabbed a 7-month-old child of one of his staffers and used her as a prop while addressing the House.
You know Maddie will become a life-long Democrat as soon as she gets old enough to watch this on YouTube.

Republican Leadership Endorses Swine Flu

Always-hysterical satire from The Onion:
Republican leaders announced Wednesday that they were officially endorsing the swine flu. "Thousands of Americans—hardworking ordinary Americans like you and me—already have H1N1," Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele said during a press conference. "Now Obama wants to take that away from us. Ask yourself: Do you want the federal government making these kinds of health care decisions for you and your family?" Other prominent Republicans opposing Obama's declaration of emergency include Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal, who urged residents of his state to continue not washing their hands.
