Want To Hear My Deepest Thoughts & Darkest Feelings?
For the first time in 6 months I’m not going to therapy. My therapist Nate - not his real name - was an intern with GMHC and his internship ended - leaving me high and dry and without someone to talk to each week. And since GMHC decided that my particular brand of cray-cray didn’t require immediate reassignment, I’m now on a waiting list until they can find me someone else. Anyone out there want to volunteer?
To whomever my new therapist may be - let me warn you. We are going to talk a lot about me being fat. A LOT. “Fat fat fat” … “me me me” is how a typical therapy session with moi usually goes. And then we talk about me being fat some more. And how I FEEL about being fat. It’s riveting stuff.
Surprisingly, I found out I’m not much of a cryer. In fact, I only cried once during all my sessions with Nate (and believe it or not, it had nothing to do with me being fat). So, basically, I’m upset about being fat but I don’t want to cry about it … just talk and talk and talk and talk.
In all seriousness, I think one of the reasons I haven’t been writing much about my life on the blog is because I had Nate to talk to about all my drama. But now that Nate’s gone, ya’ll might be hearing more about what’s going down in Bunnyland.
Did I mention that I’m fat?? Fat fat fat … me me me...

I've Lost 15 lbs!
Seeing a Nutritionist (and a Therapist) seems to be working: I've lost 15 pounds since Thanksgiving! I've cut out fast food completely from my diet, I'm cooking and exercising more, and I'm learning that stuffing my face with garbage doesn't solve any of my problems - it just makes them worse.
Yay me!

New Obsession - Fage Greek Yogurt With Honey
My Nutritionist strikes again! Recently she recommended Greek yogurt as something that was healthy and packed with nutrients. Of course I balked, because we all know that healthy stuff cannot possibly taste good. Or can it?...
Anywhore, I tried the Fage brand 2% yogurt with honey and it’s absolutely DELISH. The honey comes in a little compartment on the side that you dump on top of the yogurt before pigging out. Seriously, I can’t believe this crap is good for me.

Did You Know ...
... that seltzer water with a splash of grapefruit juice tastes just like Fresca? And selzer/grapefruit doesn't contain all those nasty chemicals that Fresca/diet soda has.
In case you're wondering - YES, my Nutritionist is brainwashing me. In a good way. I think...

Free Fries Today At Burger King
Burger King is rolling out new French Fries today - and they'd like you to try them. All you gotta do is roll into any BK and ask politely, and they'll hand you a free order of French Fries. God Bless America.
However, I won't be participating - because I haven't set foot in a Fast Food restaurant in about 3 weeks. Yes, seeing a Nutritionist seems to be working - and I've even lost a few pounds.
So no free fries for me - but feel free to indulge on my behalf.

The Dreaded Food Journal
As per the Nutrionist, I'm supposed to write down every morsel I eat - along with how hungry I was before/after eating, where/when I ate it, etc. She actually gave me this assignment two weeks ago, but I ended up only logging the "good stuff" I was eating. Needless to say, the "3 Regular Roast Beefs for $5" special at Arby's never made it onto my journal.
So now I've promised to log everything: the good, the bad, and the greasy. Oy.

One More Time
Yesterday I spent Thanksgiving with my Dad, Stepmom and her family. But TODAY is the big event: my Aunt & Uncle have flown up from Texas, and we'll be doing another big Thanksgiving meal today at Mama Bunny's house - complete with my cousin, brother and step-sister.
My Nutrionist will simply be APPALLED when I get on the scale on Tuesday.

A Step In The Right Direction
Last week, for the very first time in my life, I spoke with a Nutritionist regarding my (horrible) eating habits and my (record-high) weight. The service is/was free (through GMHC) and the appointment actually exceeded my expectations. The Nutritionist I spoke to was knowledgeable, empathetic and seemed eager to help me change my ways.
Ms. Nutrition gave me three goals to work on until I see her again in 3 weeks.
1. Only one diet soda per day. I'm supposed to drink water/seltzer instead.
2. Fast Food only once a week (as opposed to my normal 3-5/week). Just when the McRib came back! Damn! Damn! Damn!
3. Exercise at least 3 times per week.
As time goes by, she and I will add more goals to the mix. The idea is for me to slowly modify my behavior as opposed to going on a specific diet and changing everything at once.
As a matter of fact, right now I'm eating a bowl of homemade vegetable soup - which I whipped up this weekend. So far I'm off to a decent start.

Fit 2 Fat 2 Fit
From The Daily What:
Science Experiment of the Day: The photo on the left? That’s the before.
Personal trainer Drew Manning has spent the past five months intentionally gaining 70 pounds by eating all the stuff you like to eat — frosted cereals, white bread, chips, mac n cheese, frozen dinners, and soda — as part of a personal project he calls ”Fit 2 Fat 2 Fit.”
Drew, who will soon begin the arduous journey back to fitness, hopes his experiment will teach him something about how the fatter half lives.
Asked what he’s learned so far, Drew said the biggest thing was “how intense and how real these food cravings are.” He goes on:
"I know I’ll never know exactly what it’s like for every person that’s overweight and I don’t claim to, but at least I understand better than I did before when I never had to struggle with this. I hope to learn a lot more in the second half of my journey, from fat 2 fit."
I bet it'll be harder for him to lose the weight than he thinks. Just trust me on this one...

Just When I Get Back On Atkins...
... they go and invent THIS. Damn it all to Hell...
Dear Baby Jeebus - please invent a no-carb Doritos taco shell - I prefer "Cool Ranch", FYI.
Amen.
Amen.

Today's Project: Deviled Eggs
I'm seriously considering going back to the Atkins Diet - so today I made one of my favorite things from that diet: Deviled Eggs. FYI: They are delish. And YES, I'm so gay that I have my very own Tupperware Deviled Egg holder/container (although I've lost the lid).
Regarding the Atkins Diet... About 9 years ago I lost 90 lbs doing Atkins, so I know it works. And let's face it, nothing else has been doing it for me lately. So why not give it a shot?!?
I'll keep you posted ...
Thanks to DustBunny Truth for the reminder about Atkins.

Well, the DustBunny Good Days Initiative ended in a whimper –
with only 5 of us reporting for the final week. Most of this is my fault, as I
failed to do a post during the week prior (8/22 to 8/28) – although kudos to
Mrs. A for sending me last week’s tally even without being asked.
Extra special kudos to Froggy – who managed a 7 out of 7 during
this final week. Awesome Job, Froggy.
Feel free to share your experiences (or belatedly give us your tally) in the comments section.
Personally - as with all my prior attempts at losing
weight/healthier living – this was an utter failure (I'm
heavier now than I was at the start). I think it’s time to stop blogging about weight loss around here – it's obviously not my strong point (to say the least) and I'm tired of looking like an ass for making promises I'm unable to keep.

DustBunny Good Days Initiative Reminder
My apologies for forgetting about the DustBunny Good Days Initiative last week - but my birthday and the hurricane distracted me. And the dog ate my homework, etc.
If you haven't already - please email me your Good Days tallies for last week (to healthydustbunnies@gmail.com) and I'll put up the final Results post tomorrow.

Technical Difficulties / "Good Days" Reminder
My apologies if you've had trouble logging into DavidDust.com - but thanks to the efforts of Russell at RJDPro, things should be back to normal now.
In other blog business, please send me your Good Days tally for the final week of the DustBunny Good Days Initiative. I apologize for not posting last week, but between an earthquake, hurricane and my birthday I completely forgot. Send tallies to healthydustbunnies@gmail.com.

Sorry for the late posting - let's blame it on the earthquake, shall we? Kudos to Miss A for a 7/7 week!!! Also, if you aren't listed (or you are listed and want to elaborate on your week), please do so in the Comments.

Reminder: There are only two weeks left in the DustBunny Good Days Initiative (Labor Day will be the last day to report) - so let's make these last few days GOOD DAYS!
Also, since I haven't done so well with this project (unlike the rest of you), I'm thinking about another program for after Labor Day. Stay tuned.
