Independence Day Art - Jasper Johns "Flag"

Artist Jasper Johns painted at least 20 versions of his "Flag" series in the 1950s. The one above was purchased directly from Johns by writer Michael Crichton in 1973 (for next to nothing, I'm sure) - and sold at auction for $28.6 million in 2010 after Crichton's death.

NYC's Museum of Modern Art owns one of the "Flag" paintings (which I've seen), and the "White Flag" (below) is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
