I went to college during the mid to late 80's, and even though I never joined a fraternity I went to quite a few fraternity parties. And it always cracked me up when the straight frat boys would pack the dance floor every time You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) was played. I mean let's face it, Dead or Alive's Pete Burns (above) made/makes Boy George look like a Wall Street investment banker.

There is a literal video version of this song on youtube that I love!
Oh God - that video.
It didn't seem that hideous at the time . . . but I guess that goes for a lot of 80s things.
Tho I grew up during the 80's, I was mostly deprived of all the great 80's music, living in the middle of a loaf of Wonder Bread (radio choices were country or country/western or "new" country or hard rock or old hard rock). SO, when I FINALLY got to hear it, I fell HARD for it, and DoA has always been a favorite. One of my old BF's could even pass for the lead singer (pre-multi-op's), altho his looks were not the main attraction (if you know what I mean).
Please keep these Dance Breaks coming, DD. I really got my jam on to this one and JB Is Dead. The lame dance clubs I was able to get into would seldom play techno while it was new, but I loved that song, and Maggie's Last Party, and Dance Your Ass Off. Techno was SO easy to dance to, since it was repetitive. I really related to the scene in Party Monster where Seth Green's character tells the DJ-wannabe character that when in doubt, play techno; seems to have been the DJ credo for that time.
