A Bit of the French Quarter in Hell's Kitchen

Scouting New York is a great blog run by a film location scout living in New York City.  "Scout" spends his (?) days looking for interesting locations to film movies and television - and then he blogs about what he finds.  Recently Scout found a carriage house behind a gate and down a narrow alley (above) about 5 blocks away from my apartment.  Check out what's back there...

Isn't that gorgeous?!?  It reminds me of the architecture of New Orleans' French Quarter and is so unlike anything else in my neighborhood.  It is also well-hidden - I've walked down that block before and never noticed it.

Apparently this structure dates back to the days when Times Square/Hell's Kitchen was still farmland, and it's HAUNTED. For all the details, check out Scouting New York.

That's spooky. Giving all over deja vu of New Orleans too!

I just looked at that building and more of the blog and bookmarked it. What an interesting job that would be to scout locations!
