NYC IN CRISIS: Rich People May Have to Open Doors!

Thousands of unionized doormen and other apartment workers voted this week to authorize a strike - which would force wealthy Manhattan residents to open their own doors, sign for their own packages, and operate their own elevators.  Quel Horreur!!

Buildings are already setting up "preparedness plans" in which residents would take turns performing the jobs the building workers usually take care of.  Personally, I would pay good money to see Annette de la Renta taking the garbage out to the curb for pickup.  But thank JEEBUS Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour lives in her own townhouse and wouldn't be affected by this potential tragedy.

According to GOTHAMIST, the strike could begin at 12:01 am on April 21st if an agreement isn't reached.  As I've MENTIONED BEFORE, I have a bit of a "thing" for PapiDoormen - so if a strike occurs they are welcome to kill some time at my apartment.  We could play a nice game of "Do You Have a Package For Me?"...

This is inexcusable. I know the rich are always with us, and some of them have stated that the little people pay taxes, but this, a thing that probably didn't really endear Leona to midgets (the same cannot be said of most New Yorkers; we absolutely LOVE her), but to make these flawless few actually have to do the hard work? What's next? Leaving them to open their own limo doors? Taking away their private jets or worse, first class? No more exclusive memberships in five star hotels?

2012 is really on its way, after all. Let me get the candles and the canned food out of my basement. And the guns, in case the renegade rich invade my humble pre-war Grey Garden's like abode that hasn't seen the luxuries of a hydraulic elevator or the renovations worthy of Corcoran, and may just sink into the Jersey mire.

Oh, dear! They will all have to write their floor numbers on the back of their hand with a Sharpie so they can remember which floor they are on!

Oh, the injustice! But how sweet of you to offer refuge for the papis.
