Project Runway Recaps Begin This Week!

Don't forget: Project Runway Season 9 premieres tomorrow night at 9:00 pm on Lifetime. And, as promised, my recap will be posted sometime Friday afternoon.

If you would like to check out the 20 (!!) new Fashiontestants (above), please visit our friends at Blogging Project Runway - they have all the lasted PR information.

Oy ... what am I getting myself into - TWENTY DESIGNERS?!?!? Even Tim isn't so sure about all this...

Tim Gunn - CENSORED???

Every week Tim Gunn records a Facebook video with the behind-the-scenes dirt from the most recent episode of Project Runway. And, as we all know, Grandpa Gunn likes to tell it like it T-I-IS.  Apparently this week was no exception - here is a brief recap of his latest video from our good friends at Blogging Project Runway ...
The behind the scenes story on the production of "A Rough Day On The Runway" is far more entertaining than what we saw Thursday night. Something seemed amiss about this challenge and the way the judges acted on the runway and now we know why. It was simply flat out incompetence by Bunim-Murray (the producers of the show). A few bullet points:
  • The challenge started out as a period piece costume that was going to be worn by Katie Holmes, but the designers would not be told!
  • After the Katie Holmes/Jackie O angle went away, it became a dancewear challenge and Tim showed up on shooting day at the assigned studio, but no one was there. He had to find the shooting location on his own.
  • Tim: "The whole notion that we would even associate Jackie Kennedy with American sportswear is a stretch."
  • Tim stepped into the judging circle to clarify what the designers had been told the challenge was since it was clear they had a different idea.

After reading all that, I was DYING to see the video - since it seemed to explain why this past episode was such a hot mess. But guess what - the video has been removed from Facebook. Could it be that the Bunim-Murray people didn't appreciate Tim's honesty???

Tim has mentioned in his videos before, in passing, about the producers not telling him about locations or that he thought he was getting fired - could it be that they are trying to get rid of him? I will tell you this - if Bunim-Murray REALLY wants to sink Project Runway, all they have to do is get rid of Tim Gunn. NO ONE would watch that mess without him.

Goodness, I long for the days of Christian Siriano and Bravo ...

UPDATE: The VIDEO HAS SURFACED.

TimGunnapalooza

Thanks to Blogging Project Runway for providing us with Tim Gunn's spring appearance schedule.  I would LOVE it if a Dust Bunny (or two) attended and reported back to the rest of us.  What say you, BunnyNation?

In other Project Runway news - there is no new episode tonight for some reason.  Regular programming (and my recapping) resumes next Thursday.

Project Runway Season 7 News

Tom & Lorenzo broke the big news yesterday afternoon - Lifetime has confirmed that Michael Kors and Nina Garcia will appear in EVERY episode of Project Runway Season 7. Oh Happy Day!!!

Then our friends at Blogging Project Runway came out with some unconfirmed (but just as juicy) tidbits. Their sources suggest that Season 7 might premier in mid-January. Furthermore, Tim Gunn told BPR that "If Season Six is a ten, then Season Seven is a twenty-five!".

What do you think - do you believe Tim? Or was he just doing his job and hyping next season?

Also, what do you think about Michael and Nina judging every episode? Personally, I think it's fantastic - and the way it should be. The show has suffered this season from the lack of consistent judging.

Thoughts?...

Project Runway - Tonight!

Yes Minions, it's Thursday - and that means there's a new episode of Project Runway on Lifetime tonight. We're down to the final nine Fashiontestants...

Check out a preview video HERE. And YES, tonight will involve former brides and their dreaded wedding dresses...

Let's just hope we don't see another "French Maid at a Funeral"...

Also, check out Project Runway prognosticator Alan Gratz's precap for tonight's episode HERE. Last week Alan thought cute Logan might be going home - but Logan ended up being safe. Gratz explains what happened - it was the Shiny Pants again...

Never underestimate the power of the Shiny Pants...

Jack Mackenroth Competing at Outgames

According to Blogging Project Runway, Jack Mackenroth has been kicking ass at the 2009 Outgames in Copenhagen. So far he has won a bronze and two silver medals in the swimming competitions. Congratulations Jack!

Let's hope Jack doesn't have a wardrobe malfunction like swimmer Ricky Berens. Actually, I bet there are quite a few people hoping he DOES :)

Jack Mackenroth's Birthday Party

I mentioned on Friday that I was going to a swanky party, and I did - the 40th birthday party of Project Runway designer Jack Mackenroth! In addition to being a guest, I covered the event for our friends at Blogging Project Runway, so I was in full "reporter mode". And by "reporter mode" I mean "drunk and bothersome", like a real reporter.

When I arrived, the birthday boy himself was outside the Star Room - the night club below the Hotel Chelsea - greeting his guests. Here we are outside the club before heading into the festivities...

And here we are inside, at the bar...

Inside, the music was pumping, the vodka was free, and the people were pretty. Season Four finalist Jillian Lewis, who is really sweet, was there...

And so was sexy photographer and RuPaul's Drag Race guest judge Mike Ruiz...

There is an embarrassing story behind the picture above. When I saw Mike and Jack talking, I went over and asked if I could take their picture. Jack introduced me to Mike, and they posed and waited for me to snap the pic and ... nothing. No flash, no click, no nothing from my camera. So I tried again, and NOTHING. So, here I am in front of a PROFESSIONAL FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER, and I can't get my little Kodak to work. Mike finally grabbed it out of my hands, did something to it, and it finally worked. I am SUCH a loser...

Anywhore, after that mildly embarrassing incident, I went back to my good friend and trusted companion Shanta - who accompanied me to the party. Shanta was supposed to act as my assistant - making sure I had my camera, notebook, etc. whenever I needed it. Unfortunately Shanta, who in real life works as an ASSISTANT at a financial firm, isn't very effective after a chocolate martini. Every time I asked her for something (Where is my notebook? Is that someone famous over there? Where is the bathroom?), Shanta would shrug her shoulders and respond with tipsy but cheerful "I don't know"...

Ok, I lied, she did know where the bathrooms were. I LOVE Shanta - she's funny, gorgeous, charming, and the perfect party date ... but I wouldn't hire her as my real assistant. Then again, the job doesn't exactly pay much (the salary is around ZERO dollars an hour, actually) so I guess I don't blame her.

Much to our dismay, Christian Siriano canceled via text message to Jack just minutes before the party ... saying he had a "paying gig" he couldn't get out of. Of course Jack and I had a chuckle speculating what kind of "paying gig" one gets at 9:00 pm on a Friday night. I suggested Christian probably found this "job" via Craigslist, and not in the Help Wanted section...if you smell what I'm stepping in.

Anywhoo, it was a really fun night honoring the sweetest guy in fashion - Jack Mackenroth. Happy Birthday, handsome! Check out Jack's website (including his blog) HERE.

Thanks again to Blogging Project Runway and to the lovely and talented (?) Shanta.

Project Runway Update

Tim Gunn is REALLY getting us excited about the upcoming Project Runway Season 6 with his juicy hints. According to Blogging Project Runway, Tim said we can expect some drama:
"It's a great season. I'll say there's a big-time shocker, some purported cheating . . . The blogs will be clogged. They won't be able to vent enough about it.''

Lord, I don't like being "clogged" ... I'll have to get some pills. Anywhore, read more about what Tim had to say HERE.

Meanwhile, Season 5 designers (and cute couple) Daniel Feld and Wesley Nault were chosen to design, custom-fit, and produce 170 uniforms for the luxury suite staff at the brand-new Yankee Stadium...

And who did Daniel and Wesley turn to when they needed a hand...?

Stella!!!!

GUILTY!

Kenley Collins pleaded guilty today, and was sentenced to a fine and an order of protection. Read the story HERE.

I Hope This Isn't True

Blogging Project Runway is reporting that Project Runway Season 6 will premiere on August 15th (according to Harvey Weinstein). Before you start rejoicing, please note that August 15th is a SATURDAY. There goes the gay viewership.

Is Harvey Weinstein (above) TRYING to destroy Project Runway?? I have news for you: I may not have much of a social life but I'll be DAMNED if I'm staying home on Saturday night and watching Project Runway. Let alone take notes so I can recap that bitch.

Check out the post from Blogging Project Runway HERE. Weinstein made his comment on Ryan Gaycrest's radio show ... so let's hope Harvey misspoke. Gaycrest was probably giving him the "let's do it" eyes, and Big Daddy Weinstein might have gotten nervous.

Project Runway: Good News & Bad News

I've got some good news and bad news about Project Runway - provided to us by our friends at Blogging Project Runway.

First, the GOOD NEWS. Project Runway Season 6 will air this summer!!! Recappers everywhere are cancelling summer vacations as we speak. The lawsuit has been settled, and all parties have decided to "make it work".

But here's the BAD NEWS ... the show WILL be moving to the Date Rape/Meredith Baxter-Birney Network (AKA "Lifetime"). Move over Dorothy, Blanche, Rose and Sophia - there are some new bitches coming to town!!

Read the entire post from Blogging Project Runway (including a statement from Tim Gunn) HERE.

I HATE that I can't end Project Runway posts with my usual "Watch what happens, Bitches!". That still belongs to Bravo.

Wednesday's Just Aren't The Same

Now that Top Chef is over, I am really feeling the void on Wednesdays where Project Runway should be. As many of you know, I got to see the Bryant Park collections of the Season 6 finalists - but Season 6 hasn't aired because of various lawsuits. I feel like the longer this legal mess drags out, the more the country forgets about the show and moves on. Will there EVER be a new season of Project Runway??

Our friend Laura K. and the gang at Blogging Project Runway have been keeping us all up-to-date on the legal proceedings. They also give us all the news about the many Project Runway alumni. Check them out HERE to stay in the PR loop.

The Project Rungay boys have been spending their time taking some fabulous trips down memory lane. Right now they are giving us their Top 20 Worst Project Runway Looks of All Time. Remember these hot tranny messes?...

But the outfit below is my absolute favorite. This would have been my choice for Number One Worst Outfit in the History of Everything (it was only #11 on TLo's list). I STILL laugh when I see it...

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA !!!!!

Check out Project Rungay HERE.

Project Rungay is also covering Make Me A Supermodel - which now occupies the Top Chef/Project Runway Wednesday time slot on Bravo. I guess you have to work with what you got - so I plan on writing a recap of tonight's episode, which should be posted tomorrow afternoon.

Watch what happens ...??...

Shear Genius/Nexxus Finale Viewing Party

In case you haven’t heard, I went to the Shear Genius/Nexxus Finale viewing party held at the Tribeca Grand Hotel last night. Thanks to Blogging Project Runway’s Laura K for inviting me to join the gang. What a great event!

In addition to getting to see Laura again, I finally got to meet The Minx (lead blogger of Blogging Shear Genius). She was a funny, fabulous and charming party companion! Hanging out with Laura and The Minx was such a pleasure.

I got to meet so many other great people, including salontestants Nicole, Dee, and Daniel (who was a hoot!). Charlie was extremely funny and warm in person – and not bitchy at all. I also got to meet Project Rungay blogger Lorenzo, who was there with Project Runway Season Two designer Emmett McCarthy. Yes Maddie, I got to meet René Fris and he is very handsome in person. But no – I did NOT give him your number (you are married, you big HO!).

I was most thrilled to chat with Shear Genius host (and former Charlie’s Angel) Jaclyn Smith. What a total sweetheart! She is not a blog reader, so she grilled The Minx and I as to what people were saying on the blogs. In particular, she wanted to know if people wrote “nasty” things about the show. We tried to explain that yes, some people are evil, but most bloggers attempt to be funny without being intentionally hurtful. That’s my story – and I’m sticking to it.

You can tell Jaclyn had genuine affection for the salontestants, and we spoke about how she gets emotional when someone is sent home. She was so cute – she said the camera tends to cut away from her when she REALLY tears up – so what we saw on TV wasn’t even the full extent of her waterworks.

And one last thing about Jaclyn – she looked FLAWLESS. Farrah Fawcett needs to do whatever it is Jaclyn is doing – because it’s working. Jaclyn was even prettier than René.

After cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, we sat down in the screening room to watch the show’s finale. In addition to Laura and The Minx, our party also included Project Runway Season 3 designer Malan Breton and Season 3 model Amanda Fields (who is GORGEOUS and sweet). I got to sit beside Malan during the screening – and we laughed like crazy! On Project Runway, the editing made Malan out to be this evil weirdo – but nothing could have been further from the truth. He was hysterical (especially after a couple of martinis). And Malan – if you get a chance to read this – I would love to attend your next fashion show.

Congratulations to Dee Adames, the winner of Shear Genius. She was there with her adorable Mom and was presented with the big check for $100,000 – which she will used to start her own salon. To view more photos from the event, click here.

Thanks again to Laura for including me – and thanks to the people at Kaplow Public Relations (and Nexxus) for the VIP treatment (and gift bag!). I hope to be invited back next season.

Watch What Happens...

Yes bitches - the last Bravo cycle of Project Runway begins July 16! Please pray for some interesting characters - it's MUCH easier for me to recap when there are a bunch of Drama Queens on the show. Photo courtesy of BloggingProjectRunway.

This Is What "Stank" Tastes Like...

First she gave us "The Moana Lisa"...

And now The Minx gives us "LOL Lisa"...

I LOVE me some of The Minx. In fact, I want to let EVERYONE know about her new project:

What A Week!...

Wow! What a WILD few days! I am so far behind in reading all of YOUR blogs, let alone posting to mine. Goodness, I haven’t even shown any half-naked Papis in 2 days! I will have to remedy that soon.

I will also have a Step It Up and Dance post - complete with a RECAP, courtesy of our own Darling Joy! I ALSO have some inside gossip from the A-List awards regarding the Step It Up and Dance dancers ... courtesy of Laura K., the Empress of Blogging Project Runway.

I just want to mention, one more time, the absolutely fantastic night I had on Tuesday with Laura K. and the her merry band of designers. But now, without further delay, here is the moment you've all been waiting for (all three of you). Here I am, with Jack Mack (photo courtesy of Laura K.):

I am the sexy one on the right. As you can see – Jack has really let himself go…

To see the rest of the photos taken that night, see them on BPR here.

Project Runway ALL STARS!?!

The latest rumor floating around is that the November season of Project Runway will be an All-Star version. Read about it here. Story from OK Magazine, via Blogging Project Runway (BPR). As the experts at BPR said, there have been no casting calls for the November cycle - which is fast approaching. Obviously, they wouldn't have to audition the "All Stars".

I would pay GOOD MONEY to see Wendy from Season One and SourFace Victorya go head-to-head!!!!! I hated both of those BIATCHES, but I would love to see them duke it out.

What do you think? Who would you like to see come back and compete again? And who do you NOT want to see back in the workroom?

UPDATE: The post about this "rumor" has been REMOVED from Blogging Project Runway! Very interesting... I love the folks over at BPR, and they were always so kind to include me in their "Recapalooza" each week (as well as provide a link to DavidDust on their blog). Maybe a little birdie from BPR could send me an email with the dirt ? ... pretty please ?!? ....

UDATE #2: Wow! That didn't take long. Laura from BPR sent me an email and said this is a FALSE rumor. She has had email correspondence with Nick Verreous HIMSELF (see bitches, I got blogfriends in high places), and he said it was malarkey. Damn! I'm still curious to see who you guys would enjoy seeing on an "all star" version of the show.

And one last thing, both Laura AND TBone from BPR asked me if I would be recapping Shear Genius!
